I feel like the united STEAM experience is telling people what you're studying/interested in, and the response is nearly always:
"Oh, I could never do that! I can't even [draw stick figures/figure out how to make my own computer work/et cetera.]!!"
(For anyone who's wondering why that's an aggravating response, it portrays these fields and interests as things that are only for certain Very Naturally Talented people, and not something that anyone can try if they want to. In my opinion, it discourages both beginners from getting into these fields and discourages people in these fields from talking about it, because it would be viewed as too complicated and unrelatable in a way that other studies wouldn't.)

Please think about using gay as a synonym for non-straight…
Like, I’m neither male nor female in the slightest. Regardless of my actual experiences with orientation and attraction, straight isn’t going to fit, and gay isn’t going to fit either.
I wish more people would think about things like that, and take them into account.
Besides, binaries are for computers, you know? The fact that dichotomies are inadequate (at best) applies to orientation as well as gender.
"Whether you see them as family, friends, or something more" I'm sorry, what? Honestly, I'm used to friendship constantly being seen as inferior to romance, but... something more than FAMILY? Just...no.

Obviously, Tumblr doesn’t believe these things; it’s a website and not a sentient being, and not every Tumblr user believes those things (as evidenced by the sheer amount of notes on that post).
But I’ve given the “tumblr is not an effing hivemind” speech many times before. Well, if you can’t beat ‘em, join 'em! Time for me to generalize websites based on some of their users!
My nomination for the most ridiculous thing Facebook has ever believed: “There are SIX MILLION POUNDS of rat meat being passed off as chicken in the USA!!”
My nomination for the most ridiculous think Outlook/Gmail/Yahoo! Mail/etc. has ever believed: That one chain letter email about JKR being a satanist (which was literally based on an Onion article). Chain letter emails in general, honestly.

The point is that this isn’t a Tumblr thing by any stretch of the imagination. Some people are just ridiculously gullible.
That Alex Hirsch tweet about DreamWorks face made me realize something. Most people can't raise just one eyebrow???
Anyone who uses terms like "special snowflake" seriously is probably an asshole, regardless of the context.
