Excerpt from "How I Spent My Summer Vacation" third draft. (My actual autobiography stuff) (Names have been changed)
I didn't recognize where we were. At night, the residential neighborhoods all looked exactly the same. Even during the day it's sometimes hard to tell, with cookie cutter houses being the main architecture of the area. Vex backed out of the driveway we were in, and immediately my stomach got nauseous. I closed my eyes and focused on my breathing and focused on that new shade of blue. “You alright?” Vex asked. “Yea, just feeling a little sick.” I burped and the taste of whiskey and coke was overwhelming. “If your gonna puke, let me know so I can pull over. Do not fucking puke inside my car again.” He said. I could hear the laughter underneath his words. I couldn't get angry. I'd laughed at him many times when he'd had a few too many. He was quiet for a couple moments before he started again. “Lucky this came on after Muppet left. You two seemed to really hit it off,” he said. “Yeah, she's really cool,” I mumbled back. “I think you think she's a lot more than really cool.” I grunted. “Even Kay noticed it.” “Noticed what?” I burped again. “That has soon has she walked in, your eyes never left her.” I didn't say anything. I didn't know what to say. He was right. “You fell for her, didn't you?” “At first sight.” “Kay told me that she really liked you. I guess she told her that while we were running around shirtless in the street.” My eyes snapped open, and I looked at him. “For real?” I asked. “Yeah,” Vex said as he pulled into my apartment's parking lot. “You guys better not be fucking with me,” I said. As cruel as it sounds, it would be something they did. Frankly, I would've done it to the too. You know that kind of relationship you have with your best friend. Sometimes it's just fun to make them miserable. “I'm not. Muppet watched you pretty close too. Did you get her number?” I put my face in my palms. I didn't even think to ask for her number. I was so focused on her that the thought just never entered my mind. “No. Fuck. Fuck.” I was so upset with myself. “Dude, just add her on Facebook. I promise you, she''ll accept. With the way you two were tonight, I'd be shocked if she didn’t. Now get the fuck out of my car,” Vex said. I laughed and hopped out of the car. As Vex backed up and drove off he shouted for me to add her. Skeletor wasn't home that night. And I was thankful for that small favor. I grabbed my laptop and loaded Facebook up. It didn't take me long to find her. I didn't know how to spell her last name, and I wasn't sure if Muppet was her real name or a nickname. So, I went through Chad's friends and scrolled along until I found her picture. Even her picture was fucking stunning. It couldn't hold a candle to the real thing though, but that doesn't mean I didn't just look at her for a little bit. I hesitated on clicking the add friend button. What if it was just me who felt something? I mean, I trusted Vex and Kay but maybe they were wrong. Maybe they misread something. My insecurities were eating me alive. Finally, I closed my eyes and clicked the button, Friend Request sent. Five minutes later I fell asleep on that couch made of cloud.
