Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone - J.K. Rowling (June 26, 1997)
** Quick sidenote: I hate JKR. If you like her, kindly step away from my blog. This isn’t a safe space for you.
A quick detour from KOTLC - Harry Potter!
Starting off with a cover review, because I like looking at covers! First thing’s first, the artist. Mary GrandPré is the artist, and while doing research I have found out that she is from a town not too far from mine. In fact, I can see South Dakota out of my window! Interesting, looking at the accent in her name you’d think she’s French.
The cover is good! It’s cartoonish and reminds me of a style that was really popular with kid’s books at the time that it was released. The symmetry with Harry and the wall is quite interesting, but not all things have to be perfect. You can see Hogwarts in the background (along with Fluffy, the three headed dog), the golden snitch inches away from Harry’s hand and a Unicorn. It does a good job at highlighting what the story is about.
I probably won’t start this book review for a while, as I want to get farther with KOTLC, but I was in the mood to do this cover review so why not?
