Rather unintentionally, I kinda took an ‘Easter Break’ on my kicking myself back into studying prequel to Law School, so today was my first day back in a while. But I covered 2 chapters in Rivlin (who, I feel, writes from a distinctly patriarchal privilege point of view - the more I read of Helena Kennedy, the more I question his certainties…)
Covering the Judiciary and the Human Rights Act 1998 reminded me strongly of a conversation with the treasurer for the committee I chair, post 2015 election, where he argued blue that the HRA was a nuisance, the ECHR simply a body to tangle good British judges in, and the sooner we get out of it - including the EU generally - the better. At the time I argued back - obviously - but now I’m like “damn, I now have facts, stats and numerous quotes of actual judges to completely wipe the floor with your ass…”
