that’s the thing. he thinks he’s okay, for the most part. he just really, really misses tony, and after everything that happened with mysterio, he’s had to reconsider the way he trusts people. in some ways, he almost saw mysterio as another tony in his life, a mentor, someone that he could wholeheartedly trust and believe in. he thought he was a goddamn hero, for heaven’s sake, and all peter can think is how naive he’d been to let it all get to him. after everything, he should’ve known ; he should’ve been more careful.
at least that’s all over. no one ever talks about how hard it is to be a superhero. it’s a lot to carry, and oh god, he still has to graduate high school and figure out what exactly he’s doing with his life after that. “ am— am i okay? i’m okay. i’m good. ” peter attempts to swallow away the thick lump in his throat, fingers clenching around the edge of concrete and brick. tilts his head up to look at the sunset. “ the world’s saved, right? why shouldn’t i be okay? ”
