skyeser replied to your post “you know, i’ve never seen anyone talk about the concept of dirk...”
probably because he said in canon that he thinks he couldn't parent
wouldn’t it be awful though if he genuinely did want them though, considering the fact that, he practically has the build of a person who could care for one:
1. He likes to teach people how to do things, and show them around the ropes
2. A heart player, making him inherently sensitive. He’s a prince, for sure, and it’s not as if to say all heart players want kids, but he’s not entirely frigid--just guarded.
3. He takes genuine consideration to things like robots and AI, practically considering lil hal his kid. He breathes life into things, possibly due to his loneliness, but it’s still not withstanding. How does he feel about life? How does he feel about people? How does he feel about children?
4. He could just be defeatist. This wouldn’t be the first time he self criticized himself into an early grave. He might just be beating out his wants because he feels he doesn’t deserve it. He definitely wants a lover, but he’s also in the middle of an apocalypse. Does he consider things of the past just moot, and cruel to bring a child to the world? Did he just bury it deep down to keep himself from getting upset?
5. He puts people on pedestals and likes to be idolized himself, kids can do that naturally, and parents tend to do the same.
6. What does romance look to him? What were his dreams and desires? He fantasized a bit about him and Roxy with kids, though that could have been said in the spur of the moment. Does he feel it would have been possible in another setting? Does he resent his sexuality? We never get to see Dirk talk much about his thoughts, we were kind of just told about his thought process by like hal imo.
7. Is it one of those ‘maybe when im older if i’m still alive and the world doesn’t blow’ things or??
does he want kids?? is he just afraid??? is he punting it out????? will fanfic writers ever explore this potential aspect of him?????
