New Orleans Blues, Cadillacs, and Debauchery // Hudson Marquez

Ever wanted to see Jayne Mansfield play chess with blues singer Professor Longhair and two cats?

Hudson Marquez’s painting series High Humidity juxtaposes a cast of New Orleans characters, showcasing the city’s kitschiness and debauchery in the most endearing way.

Marquez was inspired by Fats Domino’s Cadillacs, Bourbon St., and the city of New Orleans. He is part of the Ant Farm Art Collective and was a driving force behind the Cadillac Ranch public art installation in Amarillo, Texas.

Marquez’s paintings are available for $2,500 at La Luz de Jesus Gallery, Los Angeles. High Humidity is on view through January 27.
