Hi Hugh! My six year old brother keeps asking to talk to "bee-man." He asks how you got "all those bees!" I've read Hollow City and already tried to explain your peculiarity, but he insists upon you telling him. 💀

hi! I can’t tell wether to be flattered or not by the nickname, but I’ll do my best to answer his question regardless :D

so, when I was a young boy, I ate so much honeycomb I accidentally swallowed a bee. It didn’t really do all to much- didn’t attempt to sting me or anything of the sort, in fact, it didn’t seem too bothered at all and, well, I thought to myself, if the bee isn’t bothered, why should I be? So I continued eating and all too soon, I had the entire hive in my stomach!

My peculiarity, as Millard has told me, time and time again, is the reason I survived. I wasn’t born with bees magically living in my stomach, but instead born with a peculiarity that allows bees to live in my stomach in a fashion that is safe for both them and me.
