A few years ago my mom was talking about another manga she read as a teen, "something about the french revolution....." I was like, were you reading The Rose of Versailles????????????? huh????

She acquiesces and immediately follows up with, "My friend who had more money than me bought the volumes and lent them to me after she read them. Years later, I saw her again on TV. She became a lesbian. But I was not surprised. It's because she loved the Rose Of Versailles so much."
