So a while back, my husband @midnight-fries gave a name to a thought about the UT Multiverse that I had.

It's not sentient, but not fully non-sentient. The closest thing I can describe it to, is that it's an AI. I might shit on genAI a lot (AI "art" is not art and I stand by that), but I think this theory can hold some ground.

While I do think creators have a role to play here, I also like this idea:

There are lot of Undertale AUs. A lot of them aren't going to think of every single detail and how it would change in said AU. In that case, the Multiverse will use data collected from other AUs to basically auto complete it.

(This is kinda like how, when we see an AU we like the idea of, we expand on it outside of what the creator made official. See for example, Underfell and the way we only had the first designs for a long time, and people expanded on lore and thought of their own designs)

Basically, it takes inspiration from creators BUT it cannot make something original. However... The Multiverse bas access to every corner of the fandom, meaning it will pull from any source. I'm going to give you an example of how the AI Multiverse would handle the disappearance of a character.

Swap!Sans is missing. He could either be with Ink and Dream, or kidnapped by Error. Regardless of the reasoning, the Underswap Universe itself would flag this as "Sans is missing" . The universe knows from precious experience that Sans is important to universe and should be inside it.

It does not do anything yet. It is only once the human resets, that the universe itself acts out. It decides to fill the gap using information it has alr gained. But, it's like the Google AI telling you to read 2 rocks daily, it can't quite distinguish that's credible and what isn't. In any case, the universe replaces the character with the character they generated.

And that's how Blueberry was made

Yesterday the husband and I went for a car ride because it’s 2021 and that’s still what we’re doing for enjoyment and we decided to play the ABC game (you know, where you find letters on signs and whoever gets the whole alphabet wins and I win 90% of the time).

We were on our third game (we’d both won one each and he was very much trying to beat me) and on letter Q and it’s typically the hardest letter.

We finally passed an antique store so I shouted the word “ANTIQUE” at him and he yelled back “YOU SHUT YOUR DIRTY MOUTH” and I laughed for a century.
