Stepping through the door of the bar, Dewa took a quick glance around. A few Homra members were already there, filling the room with the hum of conversation, though he wasn’t all that surprised. Plenty of them thought of this bar as a home in and of itself, so it was bound to be populated throughout the day.
Most of the usual crowd was around that day, including Hikari, Kusanagi’s younger sister. Dewa didn’t usually speak much, but he had always tried to be polite to her since she had joined their ranks. He didn’t need to piss off Kusanagi and she hadn’t given him a reason to dislike her, so civility was key.
She hadn’t joined all that long ago, but she had been around for quite a while before that, so, eventually, Dewa had gotten used to her, as well as everyone else. Though he had no issue with his fellow clansmen as individuals, it had taken him a while to grow accustomed to how big of a group Homra was. Prior to joining, his only friend had been Chitose and he’d never involved himself in things like this. People, conversations, camaraderie; he wasn’t good at any of that, or so he had thought. However, despite his social ineptitude, he felt accepted here, more so than he had anywhere else.
Taking his usual seat at the end of the bar, he murmured a greeting to the rest of his clan before glancing over and addressing Hikari.
“So, enjoying Homra? Is it everything you hoped for?” He asked casually, raising a curious eyebrow as he rummaged in his bag.
Finally, he retrieved what he had been looking for, a book with a marker placed in the middle of its pages. Idle conversation and a bit of reading were both suitable ways to pass the time between that moment and the next time he was needed.
