Mason is old fashioned. OLD fashioned. Vinyls, record players, the jump-over-the broom-and-you're-married type.
Not saying he doesn't enjoy this generation's mannerisms, but it brings him a sense of nostalgia to wake up in the morning, freshen up, breakfast, go out and chop some wood as his records play.
And if he kept you? He expects you to make breakfast, tidy up the cabin, the whole sexist routine. But, Mason doesn't even realize he's being sexist. In fact, he makes it so "normal", so part-of-your-routine, you don't even blink when he asks "where's breakfast?", "why isn't the house clean?", and so on. Though, it will take a while for him to trust you around his food and belongings. But once he's comfortable enough, you will be doing those things.
If you're the defiant type, let's say you denied cooking, cleaning, etc. Don't expect your time there to be nice and cozy, much less for him to keep you.
