One of my biggest dillema regarding Thomas's writting is :
should he be able to cry ?
Thomas is half human - half european polecat. Human cry when they're sad, polecat don't. So the question is about how much I want Thomas to be able to express his emotions in a way that is more excepted from humans.
On one hand criying is very appealing. It's a very effective way to show intense dmotion such as sadness, rages, joy and fear. Knowing two of PM's main theme are grive and trauma, criying is a VERY effective way to show how Thomas deal with those things and how violently his mask can shatter. Criying is such an effective way to show those that MANY warrior cat fancontent used it even tho sad cat don't cry, because it's effective. I'd assume everyone would know what it mean when a fictional character cry. Also tears are fun to draw, and the idea of Thomas using his cape to wash aay the tear is fun.
But, the idea that it wouldn't come to him naturally or at all, like it comes to most people, could reinforced that idea that Thomas truly is only doing a masquerade of his favourite characters (wich, he beloved, is how "good" humans behaved ( yes he's a high masking boy) ) all while getting into that zone of "yeaaaah he might do this because he's an half-polecat/Chimera but he's also like- Thomas" the same way Thomas do stuff Armand don't do because Thomas is his own person and geniunly a weird little guy even by half-polecat standard. It could reinforce the fact that he would lowkey get a diagnostic, or reinforce how disconnected he is from his own emotion because of trauma.
I don't think Thomas innability to cry diminish his humanity by the way. But I think It's a question worth asking. Cannelle and Cinnammon, for exemple, don't actually cry because their specis can't. Nathan barely cry because he's disconnected from his feeling but never know why. It's all about the nuances.
