Being hit by Eros's arrows does not justify trying to rape someone
Nicaea is a nymph mentioned in the Dionysiaca. She was originally a hunting companion of Artemis.
Eros randomly decided to torture her one day by shooting a man named Hymnus with his arrows to fall in love with her. She obviously rejected him since Artemis only takes chaste virgins in her retinue and overall Nicaea was uninterested.
Hymnus found his love for Nicaea so unbearable that he asked her to kill him. She obliged and shot him with an arrow.
Aphrodite heard about this and got pissed off so she told Eros to punish her. He shot Dionysus who decided to deal with his newfound feelings for Nicaea by drugging and raping her (he later does the same thing to Aura) after she rejected him.
Two men reacted to the same problem in two different ways.
Both reactions are terrible and what Eros did to them both was cruel torment, but Hymnus had the conscience to chose to not become a rapist, meaning if Dionysus didn't want to be a rapist, he's wasn't forced to become one.
Dionysus is responsible for his own actions and made the choice to be a rapist. Apollo is responsible for his own actions and made the choice to attempt to rape Daphne.
👏 being 👏 struck 👏 by 👏 Eros 👏 isn't 👏 an 👏 excuse 👏
