The wind whistled past Chara’s ears as he fell into deepening darkness, the air tearing at his hair and his clothes and snatching his breath away, leaving him helpless to do anything except spiral into even more panic and terror. This is what he had wanted, right? To dissapear from the surface, to stop existing entirely? If he wanted those things so badly, then why was he scared? He didn’t have long to ponder those questions, as he soon saw the ground rushing upwards to meet him, the surface plain, hard stone that would surely kill him when he landed. Bracing himself for impact and squeezing his eyes shut, he quickly reconciled himself with the thought of death, and with a sharp, sudden pain that felt as if his skull was being cracked, he was thrown into unconsciousness.
After a moment he came to, groaning in response to the throbbing headache he had aquired. The giddy rush of relief at realizing he wasn’t dead was soon offset by a wave of pain as he tried to push himself to his feet. He uttered a chocked cry as his side flared up with agony, as if someone had kicked him as hard as they could in his ribs. He gave up quickly, the pain becoming too much as he went limp where he had fell. “Please…someone, anyone, please help me!” He cried into the darkness surrounding the pool of light he lay in, and almost immediately he kicked himself for doing such a stupid thing. There were supposed to be monsters under the surface, weren’t there? Horrible, bloodthirsty things that would eat someone like him alive. And while he was quick to doubt anything he had been told by any of the humans he had met, he couldnt help the surge of irrational terror thar clawed his insides like a beast that wanted to free itself. Paralyzed by the fear that now coursed through his veins, he could only look around with his deep maroon eyes, keeping a sharp lookout for any shadow creatures with sharp teeth and gnarled claws coming to tear him to pieces. He could only hope that whatever found him would give him a quick death, and not choose to prolong his suffering anymore than was necessary.
