Both the CEO and the bodyguard had a long day. Angel had fallen into her chair in her office with a tired sigh. Sometimes, the meetings took a lot out of her. Especially so when she needed to use her powers for something. The siren thought that being free from Jack would have given her a break from constantly using her abilities. That didn't seem to be the case now that she had taken over the company. Angel looked to Zer0 with a tired smile, "I think we should call it a day."

Zer0 had (grudgingly) agreed to train more security so they wouldn't always be the only one protecting Angel and it was taking up more of their energy then they'd expected.

Keeping up with a large group of trainees in the morning and then spending the rest of the day helping Angel was surprisingly exhausting.

"Mmm?" They hummed sleepily. "Calling it a day? I agree with your timing. I am so tired."

                    “You need a friend, I’ll be around.” They’d been that, right? The whole time that they’d all thought that Angel wasn’t human, Gaige had considered her a friend. A best friend, actually. She’d been in the ranks with Deathtrap and Axton, a constant supporter. Maybe it was all a ploy and, now that she’s free, Angel’s still in Jack’s pocket. But, maybe, she’s just lonely. Like Gaige used to be, before she met her team. “We’ll all be around.”

Within the core of the facility, Roland didn’t feel like a hero or a soldier, but a man. War solved nothing and yet, it was all the former Vault Hunter had ever known.

One by one, he lowered Angel’s shields. Soon enough, those eridium injectors were defenseless. In the nearby proximity, Roland could make out the sounds of rapid gunfire and explosions. Both Lilith and the new Vault Hunter were preoccupied by Jack’s endless barrage.

By then, the soldier was exhausted. Worn down, he knew that he couldn’t rest. Many sleepless nights lay ahead of him. Still, he clung to that one, last sliver of hope.

“Alright. We’re burnin’ daylight!” He shouted, gloved hands momentarily clasping together. His eyes roved over to the frail girl within her pseudo-prison. He felt a twang of regret, which crashed over him. Roland shook his head, worried brows knitting together.

“I’m sorry about this…” He could never trust Angel entirely, not after all that occurred. This young woman, however, had guided him through harsh times. For that, he was grateful.
