We enter the city seeking adventure and are sent towards the guardsmen's quarters. The captain of the guard, while rough and weathered, appeared to be a bit of a dandy; which Hyperius immediately took advantage of. He promises us monsters of some sort to vanquish. After a bit of magehand groping, we exit to lounge and wait further instructions. While crossing the corridor to the lounge area, I meet Vinston, a gnome assassin who Hyperius chose to fool into believing he's a wood elf as a joke since we've been referring to him as a dwarf. After a session, we grew weary as the captain dealt with the rabble that processed before us, and opted to travel to the inn for drink and regalment. Naturally, the guards were enthralled by us and arranged proper escort for our travel. Mortals are silly like that.
*We enter the inn and devise a plot to speak to some persons of interest.
Hyperius and I exchange notes about the "dwarf" and I remain unsold on his worth. Hyperius has his sights set on the actual dwarf drunkenly playing the lyre as they often do. In the far corner of the tavern, we notice a brooding feature drinking standoffishly. We decide to split in order to heighten our chances of gaining some information. I scold Hyperius on his recent frivolity in regards to his mystique before separating, which I fear may later come into play as I meet the delightful Wood Elf Kalina. She seems meek, but she's observant and resourceful if nothing else. The town seems to be disrupting the natural environment in some way, which initially put her off the idea of assisting us, but I quickly convinced her that we could just turn on the town and help her out if she's interested in joining us.
*Suddenly, a flash bang explodes in the inn! Followed by a darkness cast over the building and the sound of multiple beings entering from all sides.
Separated from my companion, and slightly blinded from the flash, I choose to enlist Kalina and see if she'll be a worthy accomplice. She quickly provides us cover and informs me of the situation and our positions in relation to the enemies and our potential allies. We are safely distant from the main entrance where the chaos seems to be stemming, and yet potentially trapped behind the bar on the opposite side of the floor. I assumed Hyperius was safe enough by himself, but he's surely got the bard on the stage wrapped around his finger so he had an ally. The "dwarf" was still nowhere to be seen, but he still wasn't of great concern to me. I need to regroup with Hyperius and figure out what is going on.
I attempt to charm a figure storming the building to no avail which incites his wrath and he rushes towards our position. Thankfully, the bard gets his attention and Vinston makes a move from the shadows; apparently he'd sensed something awry and kept himself hidden from the moment we entered. I annihilate the enemy with an Eldritch Blast and now Kalina seems to have recognized that sticking with me is her best option. More enemies storm the building, along with the soldiers that escorted us to the inn. A ghastly shriek erupts through the inn, and I am taken aback. Demogorgon begins to whisper unto me, "Calm yourself. Destroy those who aggress. Bathe them in flames." I mutter back to him in the Infernal tongue, slowly growing in rage as more enemies flood the room. A second shriek erupts, this time I'm less perturbed, I locate the origin and cast Hellish Rebuke lighting the wraith ablaze providing a visible focus for my companions while Kalina and I sneak across to Hyperius. Vinston tosses a dagger from the darkness impaling the wraith, having taken a solid form, bathed in hellfire.
