your last ask about #food got me thinking. for as long as i can remember, ive had an aversion to new foods and many different foods. some of which, like baked beans, i get anxious to the point of shaking when around. i could never understand why i had this, and its caused me great distress and trauma because of how people react to it. could it be hypertaste? most of the foods i dont remember ever tasting and dont know a link between
afterthought: same anon about #food and hypertaste. i have a very bland and repetitive diet with food of all browns and yellows besides sweets, if that helps with confirming my suspicions

A repetitive diet and aversion of new foods could be due to routine, but these and having a bland diet does sound largely indicative of hypertaste. Food textures can also lead to food aversion, some must physically touch new foods before being willing to put them in their mouth.
I completely understand your distress. I went to a primary/elementary school with school lunches which we were required to finish before leaving the room. It caused me extreme distress and resulted in me missing lunch breaks due to being left at the table and shaking/crying as I was forced to eat these foods I knew I was unable to handle. To this day I still occasionally experience recurrent nightmares of being force fed at school, it can very much be traumatic.
(#food, #unhealthy food) do you have any experience with hypertaste? i have hypertaste and it's really distressing, especially when my mom refuses to buy me fast food because theres "plenty of food in the house", none of which i can eat due to my hypertaste... do you have any advice?
Unfortunately very limited experience. I have a few extreme food aversions but don’t think I have hypertaste particularly. My advice would be to provide her with some information on hypertaste or food and autism to help her understand that it’s not you being purposefully annoying but it a genuine inability of yours to eat anything your senses cannot handle.
Anyone else dealt with hypertaste and have any more useful advice?
