ichiro yamada [ 1097 words ]
Yamada Ichiro has no place to go in this village he calls home.
He's unconventional amongst the town: a beauty, a curse with those mismatched eyes. Of hellfire they're molded, the folks have spread — one look and Ichiro catches you by the soul, to lure you far far away into the depths. No one would ever dare get close.
It's in his nature: as seductive as the malevolent fox with glowing eyes and a handsome grin, the spawn of a sinister yokai. He's just like his father — never to be trusted. Get too close to him, and he's already sunk his teeth in.
He’s only bound to lead the village astray and bring about the worst of luck. Whethering the famines and the storms as this year's crops too don't grow; and without a mother to name — how could they possibly accept Ichiro then?
He will never be one of them.
Such a poor orphan boy, cursed by the celestial realm above since his soul had been born: having to raise his brothers on his own, to endure everything alone. In each life he lives and each cycle that passes by, he's forever subjected to this.
But it is what it is, for he doesn't lament. Ichiro makes it work, whether he'd like to or not. He has his brothers to take care of after all.
But it’s when he comes home each day, tired and the fatigue lingers in his gaze. He works the hardest in the entire village, hauling heavy goods and working at the fields, pushing caravans day-by-day. He takes anything he can beg to get, anything Ichiro is assigned; it’s barely enough to scrape by, but it’s still just enough for you guys.
“I'm home,” he calls out into the night, but Jiro and Saburo had already gone to bed, and the little house is quiet except for the flicker of a candle flame. He already knows to expect he'll be alone.
But you'll always be there to greet him by the door, and Ichiro will always sigh, scold softly that it's late and you should be in bed. You don't have to wait up for him.
Yet it's when you gaze right into his eyes after such an arduous day out in the fields. It's the tenderness of his heart that hurts, just a touch. Not enough to seriously injure but enough so he knows it's there.
It's when he's right in your arms that Ichiro knows he's safe now back at home. He hasn't been cursed then, he's sure.
His eyes are so beautiful — you hold his gaze, brush him gingerly at the touch of your fingertips, and Ichiro knows then he's been blessed by the celestes instead. They're pretty, unconventional: there's no such other beauty in this realm.
They glimmer as bright as the stars in the night when you lay next to him; they're as tender as his own heart, when Ichiro strokes your own cheek, kisses you goodbye that morning that he'll be back soon; they're delicate as his own touch on you, fragile like the him you know more than anyone else, yet determined all the more like his promises.
Then you kiss right underneath his eye that glows subdued underneath this moonlight.
Your lips so gentle, when you cup him within your palms and lean him over, kissing him right as he comes through the door and right before he leaves for the day.
The eyes of the celestes he holds, a spark of beauty that lures your heart away. You only ever want to get close to and understand Ichiro at his very core; you could never leave him alone, no matter how many cycles he may live.
He's subjected to be forever yours. You’ll break the curse that binds his soul.
“Thank you for your hard work today.”
You'll always whisper so hushed too, so as to not wake even the fireflies outside. He doesn't say anything — he doesn't have to, you assure, because you already know.
Ichiro would only ever caress your cheek then, as his thumb runs over your shape he knows by heart; and he gives this soft grin hidden in the night, but you see it in the light of his eyes.
He'd do anything for you guys, you already know.
Over and over again, day-by-day. Your lips would indent and leave the kiss of an angel, a message directly from the heavens above: a mark that he’ll always be loved.
He’s cursed with these mismatched eyes and the lonesome years that pass by. Ichiro isn't the one that'll bring you luck in this life of yours, he knows.
But in each and every one he lives, in each cycle he's bound to, Ichiro sees the future of you and him, staying together in this harsh life and the next.
—
“You’re going out, babe?”
Ichiro leans over and kisses you right on the forehead.
Along with the cheek and your fingertips. the tip of your nose, the angle of your jaw, and the curve of your neck; the lips too, but of course.
But his most favorite of all is your forehead.
It’s a penchant: a charm for protection, to stave off the bad luck or the adversities that may befall. He’s not there with you now to protect you, like if you were get splashed on the sidewalk or a thunderstorm erupts. Or if bad guys with hypnosis mics suddenly jump out and challenge you to a battle.
“Get there safe.”
He laughs warm, gazes tender. Even if it was only going to class or work for the day or a quick trip to the grocery store, or you’re going home for the day (but of course, he’d walk you home then. it’s only the proper thing to do) — each time, as you slip into your shoes, right by the front door, Ichiro leans over to kiss your forehead gentle.
There. Now you should be safe away from home.
He grins. Now it’s been sealed.
The same exact spot he kisses each day — right in the center where a charm forms, his lips just as slow as the last.
It’s magic, you’re sure, when he casts a spell, and skin alights once more, alongside the flutter of your heart.
But he may kiss a dimple onto your head sooner or later. Or a mole too, with his lips so warm they singe right into your skin, yet delicate still.
It’s proof he’s your lover in this life as well.
jiro yamada [ 1038 words ]
Kissing right near his lips and not on was such a tease; how could you possibly leave him hanging like that?
Did you used to kiss him right before he left to work in the village for the day? Moving shipments around or pulling carts, maybe working with his hands all day in the dirt or sea, fishing to catch tonight’s dinner.
And when he comes home, his hands are all calloused and worn today too. His feet are clad with dirt in between his toes and underneath his nails, covered with sand. There are cracks in his skin where the dried blood and dirt bury deep, where he can never reach no matter how much Jiro scrubs and cleans.
It’s not much, but it’s tough — the toughest jobs he works because he’s your strong, dependable Jiro. He’s always working hard for your sake as well. For when he took your hand and looked you deep in the eye, Jiro promised you that he'd create a nice and comfortable life you could live.
He may not be the richest son in the village, nor have the most luck. He may not be the most handsome either, and his family name may not carry the most respect. He may not be the perfect man, but he'll make it worthwhile. Jiro swears. He'll love you whole and work hard so you could live the life you deserve.
And Jiro never backs down from a promise, you've come to learn. He'd never break your heart.
And you’d kiss him right before his lip, teasing. When he gets back home safe, that’s when you’ll kiss him then; because if you don’t finish the kiss, then he’ll surely have to come back at the end of the day for the rest.
You’d hold his chin so delicate, as if big tough, heavy handed Jiro would break right at your fingertips from one brush; you’d tilt your head, then with the touch of heaven, kiss him right below his lip.
So he better get back home safe! And no brawls this time!! No matter what the old fool says about you marrying such a poor excuse of a man. No matter what the gossiping wives say about you and your poor Jiro; no matter how you’re such a good-for-nothing spouse working such a lousy job, marrying the ugliest man in town.
Yet, even if he’s beaten and bruised, the talk of the village. Even if Jiro comes home the town’s idiot, exhausted with dirt underneath his nails and blood on his knuckles. Even if you sigh because he got into it with the old fool again, didn’t he.
You’d still hold him so, pull him in close, and kiss him welcome home.
With this look in his eyes; this stupid grin and big, tender heart that swells, too big to fit in his chest; and the prettiest mole right next to his lip.
In every life, he’s back home safe and sound, just as promised.
—
Jiro is nothing more than a dog, really — your cute pup resting on your shoulders, a little too heavy to bear. When he nestles right into your crook late at night, yawns loud and mutters a slurred 'night babe', and falls asleep right then and there.
There’s no other place warmer. Not even the blankets he steals from you nor a sunny grass field.
He lazily wraps his arms around you, pulls you in close; and yet, his strength is heavy and tough to break. He'd never let you go.
(Which is certainly trouble when you wake up and have to use the bathroom)
And oh he presses the most gentle of kisses: sloppy and a little wet, yet still oh so saccharine. onto your shoulder blade or right in the crook of your neck, where they intersect and meet. Right where the pulse of your soul lay, and it beats so strong underneath his lips.
They could only ever be innocent. with the feather of his hair against your skin and the tickle of his breath; with the slur of his cute, tired voice in your ears, drunk on your warmth; and his eyes are closed, in a dream already; then a shy of his lips.
“'Night babe.”
With a kiss from him, you’ll be safe even in your dreams too. He’s a guardian angel- a guard dog more so; no one else could attack you in such a place then.
If you wake up from a nightmare, he's already right there. holding you tight, kissing all the worries and fears away until you assure him you're alright.
Even such thoughts would be afraid and tremble, with just one pierce of his glare and bare of Jiro's sneer. They'd surely leave you alone tonight too, when Jiro is wrapped around you and kisses your neck tender.
In such a vulnerable place he kisses, right on your neck. Any wolf could easily sink his teeth in and tear a bite. Anyone else could be dressed in sheep’s clothing only to stab you in the back, break your heart into a thousand pieces that you could never stitch back up in just the exact way.
But not Jiro.
He’s the only one that’ll ever see you like this, the only one to touch your neck in such a way and protect it safe; no one else could ever get this close without having to go through him first.
Though you probably loved a vampire more so — you’d think in your future life, when you stare in the mirror and see a pretty mole right where they bite.
And of course, Jiro would be there too, from behind as he nestles into you in the very same spot he adores, with his lips already with another kiss on the mark. with his two pretty moles still ever so prominent in the reflection of your eyes.
He hums lazy, falls alseep so quick and dreams sweet before you could even utter his name saccharine. He could only ever rest easy right here in your arms, like a dog in the warm sun on a football field.
He leaves such a pretty mark for the next life as well.
saburo yamada [ 976 words ]
Oh you absolutely loved teasing your husband oh so much.
One kiss right underneath his eye, and another one too. Because all good things come in pairs, right? soba and dashi, goodbye kisses at the door. you and Saburo.
Then one more kiss right there.
Really. You seemed to love kissing him anywhere but the lips — y’know, an actual kiss?He doesn’t get it. He’s your husband after all, Saburo furrows his brows and wants to scold.
“Have a good day Sabu!” you grin, brighter than the sun that's just now coming out from the horizon. It's perhaps too bright for how early it is right now, but of course, Saburo doesn't mind. He never does when it's you.
He goes out to the village all day and works the hardest you know, the smartest too.
He writes the village records with his perfect penmanship, keeps them neatly organized for future record. He’s well respected at last; he has such an honorable position after having to work his way up from poverty. No one looks down at Saburo now as he walks through the village’s roads.
He's crafted such a nice life for you and his brothers. He's finally the one you all can rely on.
“Aren’t you forgetting something, sweetheart?”
Not that he cares.
Saburo looks antsy standing by the door, one foot in and the other ready to go. But he can’t — not yet, at least. When he fidgets with the strap of the pouch he carries and pouts, looking at you through his eyelashes.
He’s punctual, yet he will never miss a kiss from you. So if it means he'll mess up his record and get kicked off his government position, then so be it; he'll huff, he'll stand in the doorway until you acknowledge him or until you'll have to leave for the day as well. But he won't leave without that kiss goodbye. Without that assurance that you love him back.
Oh! Right.
Then you grab him so gentle, and when Saburo looks you in the eye he knows he’s lucked out in this life. Despite the harsh upbringings, despite how hard he’s worked to be well respected and seen as part of the village, to hone his penmanship and obtain an admirable position. It’s with you he knows just how lucky he has it now in this life.
A true love's kiss you finally give, right on his lips. Now he can be on time today as well.
But if you don’t kiss him four times over, then how could Saburo possibly go? It’s only routine now.
His moles will grow, two under his eye and one right by his lip — he’s the prettiest beauty in this life and the next.
—
Saburo still has a long ways to go when it comes to this whole boyfriend spiel.
He hasn’t given you a proper kiss yet, still.
He knows it’s what boyfriends should typically do, but he holds your hand coming back from school, so that surely counts; and he helps you out with homework; and he invites you to hang out at his home, to play mario kart together and have him absolutely kick your ass.
He knows to make your mii in his own tomodachi life, down to all the little details and the way he sees you so cute: with these eyes when you ask for help in class; and this pretty smile when you laugh and laugh your heart out at something he’s said. because he's so so so stupid when it comes to you.
And you'd have these sparkles when you try a slice of cake from your favorite bakery. It's better because Saburo bought it for you — though you shouldn't say stuff like that around anyone else, idiot. It's not good for his heart.
To get all blushy and embarrassed when the two of you end up together in game as well, he knows — as soulmates, nothing less. He didn’t plan for that.. maybe. He didn’t force your miis to interact, didn’t drag himself halfway across the island just to help your clumsy self up.
It’s all a coincidence — it’s destiny. In each and every universe and in each life, from the very beginning of time, you guys were destined to be together.
He loves you, truly. From the bottom of his heart and more, but it takes more than that to be a good boyfriend apparently.
It’s one simple kiss to take this to the next step. It’s only one first kiss by the door when he drops you off at home, then Saburo is forever yours.
But he doesn’t have it in him to kiss you the right way: on the lips to seal the spell, and now the prophecy is complete in this life as well. He’s only fourteen after all; isn't it much too early in this cycle of his?!
So Saburo does the next best thing and kisses your cheek.
Right at the angle where the jaw ends and the skin meets. Far away from your nose that'd warm like that reindeer, but so close to your ear; it’s a secret only you’ll ever know in this universe.
You'll have a pretty mole right on your cheek in the next life from how shy he'll get to give you a proper kiss; or maybe a dimple that’s so deep, and it shows each time you grin this big and wide smile. so bright that hearts flutter at the mere sight (but no other heart should except for Saburo’s).
A dimple so deep you could poke it, and it’s your most defining feature as a mii. because an angel kissed you right before you were born in this life.
You’re only Saburo’s, you know, until the end of time.
And now everyone knows too.
