You know I just finished outlast 2 and imma little disappointed :/ I felt that the end Lynn got a little forgotten? I hated Jessica and didn't get why Blake was fixated so much on her. I felt that Jessica replaced Lynn by the end

In the end, yes, Lynn was forgotten. Not because Bilake didn’t love her (I’m not going to dispute that, he does love her---he literally went through Hell to get to her), but because the morphogenic engine had amplified Blake’s guilt to a point where he was trapped in his own subconscious, fixated on a point in his life that changed him forever.

The Jessica we see isn’t the real Jessica. She’s a part of Blake, a projection of his guilt. He was an 11 year old child and he failed in saving his friend (and was coerced by Loutermilch to help him hang her) all those years ago and he kept it to himself. He didn’t tell anyone for 20 years. Not even Lynn. Yes, we know Blake repressed some of the details and they did not resurfaced until Temple Gate, but can you imagine holding onto that for 20 years? Plus the morphogenic engine has a greater affect on those who have been through immense trauma, using it against them, scrambling their brains in order to make the perfect, malleable host for the Walrider.

Yes, Blake seemingly forgot Lynn. Yes, he confused Lynn with Jessica on several occasions. Yes, he was with Jessica in the end. But it goes to show how powerful the morphogenic engine has become. That it can literally tear someone’s mind apart, unraveling them to a point where all that matters is trying to desperately fix what’s already been broken beyond repair.
