I think a narrative push to paint louis as insecure is something different from him saying he's the forgettable one or something along the lines of that. But people are multifaceted, you can both be confident and unsure. You can be both wanting to keep something going and want it to end (like anyone who has had a job with amazing colleagues but horrible benefits will know lol, or some relationship even where there's loads of love but you just couldn't find a way to make it work etc). I think if you read into their lyrics they're all, all of them (although sorry Liam I can't get much from yours <3) struggling with did we do the right thing, what are we now without each other, shit I do miss it so much but it was for the best right? At least that's what I get from it. (not saying I think all their lyrics are crying over hiatus lol)

Then about being the forgettable one, or being scared to go solo, I think they all felt that too. I think everybody would feel that way in that position. Maybe his public image just left the most room to be humble and open and honest like that compared to the others. And maybe yes that's because he was painted as insecure around the time before the hiatus, but that doesn't automatically make it a lie. Now as to why he was painted as insecure, beats me. Could be many many many things. Maybe just a way to explain what people were seeing because mans looked lost. Harry wanted to leave narrative because mans looked angry. Possible. Maybe a bigger plan to just make him look like shit, to gear up the public even more to expect less from him, really could be so many things.
