Since ive befriended like half of tumblr's tisha fan community
Its time
So..to begin
I wanna give out a hot take
Lots of people like to think- (aswell as the word obsessive even being used to describe her in her wiki)- that tisha has obsessive or compulsive behaviours.
Now i agree with this to an extent- but, when we talk about toons you gotta remember one thing:
Toons come hardwired with certain interests or a sense of duty anyway, they're cartoon characters afterall.
Almost all toons have an intense interest or hobby, and we cant just label them all as compulsive or obsessive (shelly w her dinosaurs, rodger w his investigations, cosmo and sprout w their baking, shrimpo w his.....shrimponess. goob with....wanting to hug ppl??? brusha with painting- u get it, there are plenty of examples) and a huge factor on why i think we cant label tisha with these traits,
Is her interaction with 1) goob:
and 2) sprout:
Clearly
Gals tired
this doesnt rlly speak to me as her being obsessed with order or cleanliness, infact here she seems to loathe the idea that:
1) no other toon seems to help clean
and
2) NO OTHER TOON SEEMS TO HELP CLEAN BRUH
There are 7 days in a week 😭 and sprout is asking her to clean the kitchen all by herself for the 4th time 😭 have u ever seen sprouts floor
(honourable mention- astro asking for help to clean his room. His. His GIANT ROOM. "AGAIN")(and ofcourse the fact tisha is asking for help)
(thats not the only time shes subtly asked for someone to help her, her interaction with brightney is also her asking for help i just didnt ss it for some reason 😭)
Now idk about you, i dont have any obsession or specific compulsion to clean, but if i lived with like 38 other people, who all refused to clean up after themselves and came to me everytime they needed to, i too, would lose my mind with the mop.
And tisha is a maid so. Ofcourse she does
To me tisha seems to at the very least dislike her job, but another trait you can see in her interactions is shes extremely hesitant to just straight up ask for help (or atleast tries to make it seem like shes doing better than she is)
Even when people acknowledge that shes doing too much, she just brushes it off:
She didnt assure them that shes fine or anything, just said "someone has to keep things clean!"
Again, lightening the blow by saying "i could be better!" Instead of "can you all not make me clean an institute 75000 square meters bigger than me 6 times a week"
(also this is adorable wtf 😭 i never knew she said this 😭 "i could agree there" "that i could be better????" You dumbass 😭)
Getting the part that i think tisha dislikes her job out the way, lets dive into the absolute trenches she is in 💔
Tisha is the first toon anyone who needs help cleaning or organising comes to, We've already seen the cleaning part, but we also see that rodger gets tisha to help him out in investigations too
(tisha has already expressed in astros interaction that she dislikes how inconsiderate they are of her own time sometimes)
2. Alongside with being their own role, most toons also help as child entertainment mascots, and we see in the wiki that tisha even teaches little kids about cleanliness, so . Shes. Shes employed chat. or used to be atleast
3. Idk if i should include this or not but- she does help shelly clean her fossils, im torn on this because spending time with friends is like a break from work anyway but- if you were an overworked chef cooking for an entire cast of people and the only time you're spending with your friend is helping her cook i think thats sick bro 😭
4. Tisha doesnt have very many healthy relationships, shelly aside, shes got some weird situationship going with brusha, and scrolling through her entire wiki you'll see (other than toodles, cus everyone at gardenview has decent interactions w her obviously) she only rlly has a "friendly" interaction with teagan. (Teagan asking her to join her for tea)
Finding a friend in someone is not the same as being acquainted or even in tishas case, just living with them, she doesnt like the fact sprout, astro, or rodger are using her for their own benefit.
And even then, teagan seems to invite everyone for tea. Thats.....Her thing. So debatably, tishas only real friend is shelly
Being that overworked and having basically no one to rely on (cause like, shelly is fighting her own entire set of demons bruh) is....
Sick 😭 blushcrunch ur SICK 😭
In conclusion
-Tisha probably isnt obsessive or compulsive, just doing her job when no one else even seems to know how to
-She doesn't seem to have a good self image, considering her first thought in cosmos interaction is that he thought she shouldve been better, and tried laughing it off after being corrected
-She is a cookie crumbling and still pretending to be locked in
-She probably also struggles with getting people to listen to her cause she has straight up begged atleast half the cast of the game at some point to be competent
-Shes blue dabadeedabada
Unfortunately she is a cartoon character so we will forever depict her as cute and fuzzy in the game even though some of these toons suffer from very real life stuff (tisha is legit a 9 to 5 social anxiety ridden adult 😭)
Which is why i bring skin concept doodles
I didnt name them but its pretty self explanatory what they are anyway
Fanart of @echo-exco 's glorious healer!reader fic (got the motivation to draw all that when seeing @unknownsorrow 's own fanart 🙏 go give these two some love)
Why is tumblr the ultimate obliterator of image quality😭 click on it if u want to be able to see the details..
(2 versions bc i realised the pic was crazy blue when i sent it from tablet to phone and i tweaked out)
Dropping my only thoughts ever (random fun facts abt the process and some symbolism) under the cut
Okay so before we start id like to say that i can NOT word sentences to save my life so i may sound like im spitting out random letters
Anyway😝
I wanted to make fanart but didnt want it to just be healer just standing there or striking a pose or smt since i most likely dont have the same interpretation of her appearence as the author and itd lowkey just be silly to send art of a what id feel like would be a random anime girl💔
I decided i wanted to try and add lore into it so i quickly got the thought of showing readers healing ability in this like super bright light and the crazy ahh agony it puts the patients through
(yes the other ppl drawn are randoms i didnt think much of what their design would be when drawing em😭🙏)
And ohhh my god even tho i knew what i wanted to draw i could nawtt figure out the composition like holy shit THE BASIC SKETCH TOOK 2 HOURSS💀💀
I WAS SOO UNCERTAIN ON WHAT I WANTED FYM TWO HOURS FOR THISSS
It looks so ass too and i kept changing it💔 still not sure on if i fw with the final composition of the drawing but goolly dally do i not care anymore
OKAY SO i had lots of thoughts when drawing (crazy event) so im gonna yap about them 💪
I usually dont do that since most of my art is oc art and no ones reading 3k words of lore attached to comprehend why one hairstrand is blue (hyperbole) but less (unrelated) chatter and more (interesting) chatter
I tried to portray healer!reader in this almost divine way to like maybe show what her "patients" first thought might be when they hear of a girl with the power to immediatly heal them (i dont actually know how masahi or wthvr his name is got injured people to healer so i might sound really stupid if theyre just kidnapped or smt lmao)
Her abilities may make her seem like the ultimate solution but what u dont immediatly see (in the drawing) and/or realise (in the context) is the cost of this power (the big ouchie)
I dont think healer sees herself as this grandiose miracle bringer or anything of the sort when she heals like she lowkeys just masashis tool wether she realises it or not😭 her nurse uniform isnt even a proper one
I like to think that masashi tweaked her outfit to doll her up a bit since she doesnt really need clothes up to regulation (and bc he doesnt really take her seriously i feel like)
Like look at this
She has huge sleeves, no gloves her hair isnt even tied up and shes getting all close to a (formerly) gravely injured person like diva truly dont give a fuck😭 (i was debating on if i should add a big bow on her back but decided otherwise cause i think she herself would refuse to have one lol🧍♀️)
In the drawing shes like grabbing someones arm and i tried to make her hold look both harsh (put not very visible red streaks on the skin below her finger) and forgiving (shes not really pulling at the arm and the higher hand doesnt even look like its seizing the other person)
The red is so invisible oh my days
I dont think she actually needs to touch a person to restore their body but idk its been years since i last read bsd 🧍♀️ the hold is mostly there for the imagery like it can be so many things just interpret it as you want (it can help the angelic imagery by looking like shes holding the person to reassure them but it can also just be that the person may have tried to punch her in their panic so shes holding them in place or smt)
I highkey just talked abt healer and the person shes holding but theres other ppl lurking in the darkness so ill briefly mention them yk
As u can see below, the moment between the two people in the light is sort of "interupted" by others who are either obstructing the view or reaching to be seen
Whats happening between healer and the current patient isnt anything new or unique, its not something u see once and then never again. the others are still within view, still affected but unable to truly bask in the light. They remain hidden but still visible to whoever sees the bigger picture (i think it was mentionned in the fic that there were reports of people healing crazy fast but they had this empty look in their eyes? Smt like that? So like u can be aware of what getting that remedy does to someone but still not fully understand and goshh i cant put into words what im thinking)
I saved this as a draft and it fucked up the pictures i put and put them all in random orders (if it does that when i click post im reposting this with a picture of my reaction) (EDIT: IT DID OH MY GOSH WHY DOES IT KEEP DOING THIS) so now i dont feel like typing more in here👎 (everyone cheered)
"Why is one of them naked?" "Why is the light not on the girls head?" "Why is there 1 person with blood all around her?" "Shouldnt the others be bloody too?" "Wheres this random ahh beam of light coming from?" "Whats ur credit card number?" "Why do the naked girl have an earring u probably didnt see before reading this question?" "Why am i talking to myself?"
OMG I FORGOT TO SAY BUT THIS WAS MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT GRAYSCALE (When u add lights and shadows in black and white and then the colors) AND I HAD A WOOPING NINETYYY (90) COLOR CORRECTING LAYERS LIKE WHAT??? IM NOT EVEN COUNTING THE COLOR LAYER JUST THE CRAZY AMOUNT OF COLOR BURNS MULTIPLIES AND OVERLAYS LIKE😭😭😭 (Imagine my reaction when i sent the pic of the drawing to my phone and ir fucked up every color and turned everything dark blue💀💀)
In today’s session of Rederiss Rambles, we will be talking about: Jeremy Knox
Buckle up guys, this will get sad. (This is your warning. If you have not read TGR, STOP NOW!!!)
Thesis: Jeremy Knox has a disassociating problem, and I will be shedding light on how this affects the narration, his views on himself, and his views with sex. (This is a very shitty thesis, but whatever. Im graduating soon, so i dont give a fuck)
Before we get going, I am not saying he has a disorder. I am specifically looking at disassociating as a form of coping and disconnecting from the world.
The very first time we, as the audience, may experience may experience a potential disassociating moment from Jeremy Knox is when his brother texts him, and he drops his phone into his coffee (Exhibit A below). I’ve only added these parts of the whole scene to show the full shift. Jeremy literally went from casually talking about the issue at hand to completely a whole different side of him. He starts feeling dread, reads the phone, then drops his phone into his coffee a moment later. He does not even move. Laila had to take the mug out of his hands and the whole scene feels as if everything becomes a fog. The tone Jeremy uses goes from focused to distant, and he’s not fully back until Laila presses a kiss on his temple. Now, we all know that he very much so needs that touch to anchor him…
But sometimes touch doesn’t always anchor him! Sometimes, he uses it as self harm, though he labels it as “rebellion.” Yes, we are now going to talk about his sex life becuase that is such a huge part of Jeremy. Has anyone noticed that Jeremy never details the sex? At first, I thought it was because Nora purposefully omitted those parts, but then after thinking on it, this is Jeremy. If Nora is omitting in Jeremy’s POV, it probably means we should focus on what is being omitted and how she details the omission… and yes you can detail omission. Jeremy Knox is notorious for omitting that we need to focus on it to know more.
For instance, a great example is when he saw the police and kept his eyes forward, trying to ignore the police. We all noticed this, of course. Jeremy was omitting information from us and framing it in away where he attempts to gloss over him doing that, but in reality, it’s a focus point. Why is he doing this? So, we need to really dig into his narration to have some understanding… it’s actually how I figured out he had a sex scandal before TGR came out (look, I made that post as half a joke, as a meme…)
OKAY, so let’s look at an example omission scene… Actually two and compare them now that we know we need to look at how he is framing these omitted information. If you compare both the Leo and Faser sex scenes, you’ll notice the same framing: Jeremy describes some foreplay then omits the entirety of the sex and describes how he leaves. It’s like he mentally goes in and out. We don’t even know that his neck gets bruised until much later. When we learn about the bruises, he passes it off pretty easily and quite literally says “he remembers…” and that it was “easy to ignore” which show some sign of dissociating/disconnecting.
At face value, we wouldn’t think much about Jeremy omitting those scenes, but when you compare them and then add in the “Jeremy remembered Faster’s bruising grip” we get to see a more clear picture. We all know that Jeremy is using sex as self harm, but he also uses it to disconnect from what he doesn’t want to face. Him dissociating during sex is very harmful, which we see with Faser. He remembered, but he ignored since he was more focused on the pleasure (we see this in the next line, I purposely didn’t include).
What I am trying to say is we don’t get details… because Jeremy may just completely disconnect and allow himself to fall into sex. With the extreme that he does this, he no longer uses sex to cope, he uses it to harm himself.
There is one more that I wanted to discuss, that I think is a missed sign of Jeremy having a problem with disociating…
Did not want to add the full scene because it is a couple pages long, but this is the most relevant part. Though I do suggest rereading how this part is framed. Jeremy and Jean are talking, then Jean gave him a reassurance, causing Jeremy to immediately go into a full LONG paragraph about his family’s lackadaisical care for Jeremy/how they view him and how Jean views Jeremy (which Jeremy mischaracterizes). We get this in Jeremy’s POV so it may not have seemed like he became disconnected, but then the above ^^ happened where Jean brought him back.
Jean saying “You go away when you go home” shows how much Jeremy does disconnect, and it’s framed as a coping mechanism… but then the sexual encounters becomes so extreme that it becomes unhealthy, so therefore his coping mechanism is unhealthy. Jeremy needs touch to feel grounded, which is why he uses sex, but it’s now going so far that he’s completely disconnecting and causes himself harm.
I was reading a bit on Shostakovich just now (again) and I just wanna say. so much of history is painful. i wanna cry so bad. aughhhh
during the siege of leningrad, shostakovich and sollertinsky couldn't meet up because shosty was stuck where he was (he refused to leave his home town until the very last minute).
Letters from Shostakovich to Sollertinsky:
Often at night, suffering from insomnia, I begin to weep. Nina and the children sleep in the other room so I don't disturb them. I often think of you and can't do without your company.
I miss you terribly [...] your company is as essential for me as the air I breathe [...] each day I dream I will soon come to Novosibirsk and we will see each other after almost a year's separation.
from 1941 to 1943 shostakovich stayed in leningrad until the Red Army cleared a land corridor for them to escape. So they had renewed hope of meeting again, and life might go on as usual, even with the war, as long as the two friends were together.
No. In the beginning of 1944 Sollertinsky suffered a heart attack and passed away. The last time they met were for a brief while in a train station in 1943, when they thought that they would finally be reunited, away from the throes of the war.
My god. what would shostakovich have felt then? To lose such a dear friend, in the midst of a lengthy, dreadful war. Shostakovich had been composing the second piano trio then, and finished it late in 1944. He dedicated it to Sollertinsky. Such human grief can be heard in that piece! I can't even begin to describe it but I really hold this piece in reverence. The first movement opens with difficult cello harmonics and is dissonant. The second movement has a playful character that stands in stark contrast to the rest of the piece. I can't figure out what this might mean! Perhaps it's like a person dancing closer and closer to the edge of delirium. Idk really.
the third movement opens with some heavy slow chords on the piano, again in contrast to the previous movement's allegro, and the specific markings of marcatissimo and pesante. There's some other stuff that's too deep for my less than satisfactory music theory to do it justice, something about most of the piano parts in this mvmt being chords symbolising grief blah yada yada. And lastly there's the fourth movement with its infamous jewish theme. F# G C C C Then suddenly the theme from the first movement hits you again and you're overpowered by such violent sorrow. Ouhuhhh. Ughhh., WAAAAAHHH
THEIR FRIENDSHIP IS SO SACRED <3<3 ALL HAIL SOLLERTINSKY
My beloved tablet threw a fit, so I lost my original Final Girl design, but that's A-Ok! There's a new bitch (design) in town now that it's fixed. Meet Harper! I'll have a full pic/info sheet for her eventually when I'm not suffering from The Horrors™️.
Just wanted to let you know that you've honestly become a huge inspiration for me and have drawn (heh) me out of the depths of art block and uninspiration, and I always look forward to seeing what you post next. Take care and never stop being yourself. Your work is lovely as always 💚
Worst feeling when you realize you’ve lost a drawing you’ve spent hours on. Know I’ve been there too 🫠 However—HARPER IS LOOKING AMAZING I LOVE HER COLORING I LOVE HER STYLE I LOVE HER PIERCINGS
The linework in her hair—it’s so fine and volumetric? Is it a specific brush?
Touched to know that I’ve inspired you 🖤. Art block is weird—to suddenly struggle with a something we’ve been doing naturally since childhood. For me personally, it can last years at a time. I’ve found the best practice to stave it off, is to make things that feel good to make, explore concepts you’re interested in, or just make something spark in your chest when you look at it.
Looking forward to seeing her again :3c hoping The Horrors™️ pass you by soon eheheheh.
in your opinion, what’s the best sam wilson comic run?
So, a few disclaimers:
I haven't read a huge percentage of Sam's comics. There's so much I haven't read. He's been around since the 60s. There's a lot to read and I'm nowhere near an expert.
So much of Sam's back catalogue is very racist. Anyone who's read a lot of old marvel won't be surprised by this. We're going into this with the assumption that we're all adults here. We're mature readers who are able to parse caricature and trope, understand the popular attitudes at the time that led to their inclusion, and understand that this writing and art being congruous with its place in history doesnt absolve it of anything. We learn context to better understand things, not to excuse them. We're able to recognise and critique what ought to be critiqued and also appreciate the things that do work.
Perhaps surprisingly, this problem doesn't get better over time in a linear way like you might expect.
No sam run is perfect. All of them have flaws and are worthy of criticism. Again, we're mature readers and all that. Many individual comic issues are very good for sam, but they're mostly scattered around the place.
PART 1: Reading Guides
This section was supposed to link to a bunch of Sam comic recs but tumblr is functionally unsearchable. But there's a few recs here, and a reading guide here.
So, let this post also be a call to action for anyone who has a reading guide! Link it! Send it to me and I'll share it! Make. Tumblr. Usable.
For my part, I've been slowly making my way through his appearances chronologically, and also keeping up with his new stuff for the last few years. There's a reason for that approach, which we'll get to in Part 3.
For reference, this is a very detailed list of Sam's comic appearances (probably too detailed, and contains a lot of wordless cameos, and I do hate that website and can't guarantee its not missing anything). This might be useful to refer back to when hopping about through different storylines etc. They're listed by volume number, which is annoying. It's easier to search for comics by the year they started in.
PART 2: Sam's Solo Series
The bulk of Sam's appearances are in supporting roles in Steve's comics. He's also been present in many Avengers runs, but mostly not in a prominant role.
But for now, a list of most of the comics where Sam is a main character, red for solos, blue for ensemble:
Captain America (1963) #117 onwards
He's not in every issue, but he gets actual attention as a protagonist at times so it made the list. Various writers over the years.
Marvel Premiere (1972) #49
Random oneshot with a theme about free speech. It's not good, but it exists and he's the lead. By Mark Evanier
Falcon (1983) #1-4
Sam's first solo title, a mini series. By Jim Owlsey
Marvel Fanfare (1996) #1
"Captain America and the Falcon, together again... for their final adventure!". It's got his name on the cover. Have not read. Assume it's bad, lol. By Jaimie Campos.
Captain America and the Falcon (2004) #1-14
Steve and Sam. Technically sam is a main because he's in the title. By Christopher Priest.
Captain America and the Falcon (2011) #1
Sam and buckycap one-shot. By Rob Williams.
All-New Captain America: Fear Him Infinite Comic (2014) #1-6
Another limited series, iirc there's too much Ian Rogers in it for my liking. By Dennis Hallum
All-New Captain America (2015) #1-6
Samcap, by way of Rick Remender.
Captain America and the Mighty Avengers (2015) #1-9
Hey it's Sam leading the avengers, by Al Ewing.
Captain America: Sam Wilson (2015) #1-24
Samcap again, different title, different author, generally better. By Nick Spencer
All-New, All-Different Avengers (2016) #1-15
Once again, "main character" is a stretch here. But here's sam cap and the avengers. By Mark Waid
Falcon (2017) #1-8
Little solo run, by Rodney Barnes
Falcon & Winter Soldier (2021) #1-5
Limited series about bucky. Sam is also there, retconned into being a therapist so that he look after the most special of boys. By Derek Landy
Captain America: Symbol of Truth (2022) #1-14
Recent solo run. By Tochi Onyebuchi
Avengers (2023) #1-?
Ongoing avengers title, sam gets featured sometimes. Includes the Blood Hunt event. By Jed McKay
Sam Wilson, Captain America (2025) #1-5
Sam's current solo title. So far, a resolved 5 issue arc, no idea what's next for him. By Greg Pak and Evan Narcisse
PART 3: Katatonicimpression's Guide to Sam's Eras
1969- mid 70s - Captain America and the Falcon: Hippy Era
Sam is introduced as a social worker who's into falconry (captain america (1963) #117). He's a pacifist, and politically more radical and to the left of steve. He's explicitly anti government and defends the necessity of violent protest. He's "anti nuclear" which is presumably synedoche for being "ban the bomb"/anti war although he is never allowed to express such sentiment. The politics of these comics were actively censored by the comics code, a mccarthy-era set of rules for limiting subversive/communist messaging in comic books.
On the one hand, it's fun that Sam is a lefty. On the other hand, this stuff is not necessarily handled well. His girlfriend Leila is written as a caricature of a Black activist and radical feminist. Both characters get uncomfortable stereotyped dialogue (all these comics are written by white men) and art (all these comics are drawn by white men).
Nevertheless, this era is what gives us Sam's key traits, expands on his lore (telepathic mutant, wakandan wings) and it's where you'll find figaro the cat. It's sam as a somewhat countercultural figure with internal conflict regarding working with steve, and his own perception within his community.
Late 70s - Captain America and the Falcon: This is why Reagan Won
So, marvel was really into exploitation movies in the 70s (that's why early Luke Cage is like that). And America was really into these narratives about "urban crime".... we know what they mean by that. This is the context from which marvel decided they needed to "fix" sam to make him more in line with their bizarre attitudes about what a black new yorker should be like.
Sam gets retconned into having a criminal backstory (specifically as a local gangster called "snap wilson"... this is where I paused my read through of the cap comics. It's bad you guys). Over time, Leila becomes more of a "belligerent housewife" trope, and still very much hypersexualised. The whole thing is awful. Then jack kirby takes over the series and forgets about sam for a while. Figaro is never seen again. Things get worse. End of an era.
80s - Rounding up the Lineup
Once we're into the 80s proper, sam mostly appears (aside from his one mini solo - which embarassingly features reagan as a character lol) as part of Steve's entourage. Often in a group with Dennis (yay), walker (boo) and jack (literally who cares). Occasionally he has things to do, often not a lot. Characterisation is all over the place tbh.
90s - Barely There
I haven't read many 90s comics with sam in them, and I swear most of the marvel I've read is 90s... but I guess that's mostly xmen. Sam, alas, doesn't get to hang out with those cool kids. He's around, turns up in Avengers teams and as part of Steve's entourage sometimes. He gets retconned into not being a mutant around the turn of the millennium.
00s - early 2010s - Barely There, Cursed Edition
The 00s are just the worst marvel era. I'll die on that hill. Anyway, for sam, this is some horrible art and amongst other things, the most regrettable "romance" arc sam ever had, featuring a character so problematic she is no longer in comics. A lot of ooc appearances and an "I can't be bothered to Google it" approach to his continuity and personality.
Late 00s into the early 2010s sees sam with an increase in credited appearances (the modern era of constant crossover events had begun), but they're mostly small and very much in a supporting role.
2014- late 2010s - Sam Cap 1.0
Woohoo sam matters again! And they undid the snap wilson retcon! Instead, all of that nonsense was false memories implanted by the red skull to fuck with him (oh yeah scifi!Hitler was involved in this whole thing). They still keep him as not a mutant unfortunately.
This era is where we meet joaquin, and sam starts an undefined relationship with Misty Knight. This is when he briefly has those two and Dennis as his team. He's also in the Avengers, where he has an affair with the mighty thor. Sam's slut era, if you will. He gets some decent writing for once, although not perfect. This era basically ends with secret wars/secret empire, when the presence of stevil (evil steve, aka hydra steve) causes him to spiral and eventually quit.
Late 2010s - 2022 - Falcon Sabbatical
Sam's the falcon again. Similar vibes to the cap 1.0 era in terms of characterisation (i.e. sometimes bland and shallow but not usually aggressively awful). This is where we get that falcon and winter soldier comic that I hated. But you might like it. Have your own opinions, as always.
2022 - Present - Sam Cap 2.0
This era starts a little bleak tbh. We have sam and steve as cap simultaneously, but with marvel clearly caring more about steve and publishing a ridiculous amount more of him. Sam's series is symbol of truth, which is okay. I didn't love it but again, form your own opinions. That all culminates in the "cold war" event that was (imo) bad, and had nothing to do with sam either way.
Then we have mckays avengers (2023) which mostly characterises sam well. But it also lacks something in how it utilises his powers and idk... like.. it feels like mckay wanted steve and is just not that interested in sam? But it's not awful. I'd highlight #4 for the sam and tchalla interactions (that are a direct consequence of their scenes in symbol of truth) and #25 which is last months issue (and presumably next month will also be sam focused).
We also have the avengers united infinity comic. The "beware the dreamer" arc (#36-45) by justina Ireland is a solid run for sam. The issues after that are fine. I would warn any sam fan (or any Black reader) that the opening arc by Derek Landy depicts sam being violently beaten in a way that is viscerally uncomfortable to read. It's also a badly written arc. Even if you are comfortable with the violence, the writing fucking sucks.
We also have his most recent solo which is a 5 issue arc. It's okay. Good bird energy.
Samcap 2.0 is an odd vibe. There's a sense of obligation to it, that they made him cap again to be synergistic with the MCU. But at the same time, as I've talked about to no end, it's a good thing that they did it. He's better utilised as cap. He's still with Misty, and still has Joaquin. He's got his frenemies (to lovers arc iktr) with t'challa, and has a growing friendship with Ororo, which is nice to see. There's also his cousin Billie (Wilhemina) and Josiah X (isaiah's son, Eli's uncle)
My point?
I think if you're looking for Sam comics that are free from the very obvious nonsense, then stick with post 2014 stuff. However, as I mentioned with that infinity comic, even stuff from the last year can be staggeringly offensive. Additionally, I do think that a lot of what's needed to really understand Sam as a character is in the early 70s, despite a lot of jank.
PART 4: Answering the Actual Ask
I would want to revisit his 2015 solo (spencer) before recommending it with my whole chest, because while I like a lot of its art (save me daniel acuna save me), it does have some rough patches writing wise.
I feel like the answers you seek are probably in that 2014-17 era.
Unfortunately the only things I've read recently enough to recommend with a fully formed opinion are from the last few years. I would say (assuming you're pirating these), give symbol of truth and avengers 2023 a go, and his 2025 solo. I'd avoid the Captain America crossover events from the last few years, they're not worth it.
Then do what we all do, which is jump around for a bit, then dive in super deep at whatever piques your interest.
This has reminded me to continue my read through of the 1963 title, if nothing else.
HI! In my opinion i think unsub!Aaron would stalk reader in different phases depending on the state of your current relationship with him at the moment he snaps and starts killing.
♡━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━♡
If you were NOT in a relationship with him (stranger or friend) he definitely would stalk you, how could he not? If he isn't able to talk to you everyday like he can with a partner then he needs to find out exactly how you are and what you do. He would have hidden cameras around your house alongside his own home since he is such a caring father who needs to know if his son is okay (you wouldnt know about the camera's..) If you are his babysitter he obviously use's the camera's to also spy on you! If anyone from work see's him check on the camera's in his home and questions him he uses the excuse he just need's to check on Jack (He slightly manipulates them into feeling bad for even asking since he obviously would do that because of the Foyet incident right?)
If you are already in a relationship with him i think he would be protective but not TOO much since he knows you can protect yourself. Obviously you would be fine with him killing which leads to him making sure you can fight and whatnot to protect yourself if you tag alongside his nightly activities.
If you are his co-worker that just makes it all the more easy to monitor you as he would be with you most hours of the day. He would definitely play favourites and feed into any praising desire you may have, even going so far as to coincidentally pairing you with him when the team needs to split up on a case.

In all of the AU's he memorizes your schedule and even has it in his calendar so he can try to stalk you at certain points of the day! Camera's around his house are also a common theme because he need's to look after Jack when hes away on case work. So in summary, yeah...he does stalk but in different ways🩷
