I rarely see it discussed but I absolutely love all the childfree representation in BCS. I’m sure it’s largely because of the complications that come with child actors in a long running series *cough*Kaylee*cough* but it feels organic - like, Kim and Jimmy are too busy trying to fill the mommy and big bro trauma shaped voids in each other to ever consider bringing a baby into the situation.
Chuck and Rebecca are the classic older professional couple married to their careers. And I’m sure Chuck had more than his fill of parenting Jimmy.
Howard is in love with Chuck and mostly got married for his image and to shut George up. He knows having kids would solidify the family man credentials, but can’t bring himself to bring children into the world for such a hollow reason. Namaste 🕊️
Totally! I don't t think that it had a lot to do with logistics because like you've pointed out, it makes a lot more sense organically for these characters not to have kids. Particularly for Jimmy and Kim - I have such a hard time imagining either of them willingly becoming parents.
My personal headcanon for Howard is that he expected Cheryl to have kids, and she was like "wow Howard, so brave of you to defy social norms by taking a step back at work for a few years to be your child's primary caregiver, because i sure as shit am not going to do that." And that was the end of that.
