some hasebe being good with children?

so... i’m personally not good with children at all. the thought of me raising a family squicks me out so bad i can hardly stand it. but i think hasebe is a good older brother(?) figure in spite of my hang ups with children. some thoughts under the cut.

in basis, we have zoku hanamaru- episode 7, when the other tantou ask hasebe what they can do to help cheer hakata up. while he’s not the one who directly answers (nihongou is), he does still entertain the idea. i don’t think he’s cruel or mean when he’s a little apprehensive when it comes to hosting a festival in the first place. there are, what, 60 (after the fact edit: 58) swords in the citadel at that point, which can get quite rowdy. also, it’s expensive.

he also does have appearances to upkeep. he has to be the responsible one, you see. he can’t just say “yes”. he’s got to go through the proper channels.

nevertheless, the festival still goes through. he makes no mention of the master after giving the happi to the awataguchi, and instead sticks with hakata to console him during the light rain shower that happens before monoyoshi comes back.

“don’t be discouraged, hakata,“ he says, with a smile in his voice.

can you tell i’m starved for hakata and hasebe content? or just, kurodagumi content in general? if anyone has any please send it to me because there is no food.

anyways, extending this to headcanon territory- while hasebe is gruff and distant (as he usually is), outside of duty he’ll gladly watch over the tantou if need be.

he will be a bit stiff around them- i imagine he’s also a little socially awkward when it comes to shooting the breeze- but he won’t scorn them. who would scorn the tantou though.

he’s like a strict older brother who’s had to grow up mostly on his own because his parents weren’t the greatest. he cares about his siblings and will make time for them, but he has about ten other duties he’s juggling, so they might end up taking care of him, too, while he looks after them.

he won’t cave, though. he has rules that they should follow- at least show a little decency!

he has a particular soft spot for hakata, though i iagine after fudou comes back from kiwame, he’s more willing to rebuild that bridge that both of them burned.

I went from wanting to draw nothing ever again to planning to draw 32 characters (with around 130 cgs total), several scenarios that have been floating around in my head, and one gift(?) art all in the span of one shower.

Am I going through withdrawal or am I relapsing?
