This approach seems fitting of Abraham's personality.  It shows that he would humbly accept any decision that the Lord would make.  Abraham's opinion is simply his way of showing how he sees justice and love towards mankind.  Knowing the full extent of the Lord's opinion is something that he knows is beyond his knowledge.
