I’ve been busy in the studio the last few days... the big loom is all warped and I’m weaving a double width handspun chunky blanket on that, my @louetloomsaustralia loom is ready to be threaded with a custom scarf tomorrow and I’m also itching to plant this gorgeous rose garden some wonderful friends gifted us but they’ll have to wait until the front fence is built and painted. In the meantime I’ll just be admiring their blooms and scents from the studio. Hi guys! So, it took me a day longer to post this, but I just couldn’t stop weaving these golden scarves from the video (sneak peeks will appear on stories today😉). . I’ve been wanting to show you this process for quite a while now. This is the part that always goes unnoticed but in fact - the most time consuming process in weaving. Well, second most consuming I guess. There is a stage before these - counting and winding the warp, which takes hours too.🤷🏻‍♀️ . So, there are two videos here. First shows you how I sley the reed (yep, I warp the loom front-to-back 😋) and the second video shows how I thread the heddles 🙌🏻. I chose a simple modified twill pattern for these scarves, so the threading is quite simple, just regular 1, 2, 3, 4 order and than backwards. But usually those are much more complicated and that might take twice as much time to thread heddles 😑. . So, these are just short 30 seconds videos, but in total it usually takes me about a day or 1.5 days to warp the loom. And remember - I haven’t even started to weave at this point. 🙊 So yes, weaving is very time consuming process 😎. If you do not have that much patience - it might be not for you. But if you do - the whole new world of textile is open for you ✨. . And now a little chit chat!
