#iamnotadistraction
HOLY SHIT
This morning I was wearing a crop top for the second day, and I got stopped, and nothing happened. Then I got stopped again and refused to compromise, so I got sent to the principal’s office.
The principal and I talked like normal people, she was very reasonable. After some discussion, I was given a copy of the dresscode and asked to:
a) revise it to a point I thought it was fair
b) get together people I thought would like to have their input on it
c) present next week whenever I was available
SO!! What does this mean for my ~330 followers??
Send me what you think! We can’t have people going around in underwear only, so how do we find a middle ground? I would appreciate any ideas you have, and thank you so much for the support!

Guess what guys?
I just had my first brush with the dress code since grade school. The dress code is the same, but my knowledge is different and now I’m fucking pissed.
So what I’m doing is breaking the dress code every day for as long as I can - until it becomes too cold for comfort lol. Or until I am punished. I also wrote #iamnotadistraction on my arm, because MMM BELLIES ARE SO SEXUAL NO ONE CAN SHOW THEIR BELLY BECAUSE IT’S DISTRACTING like, fuck off. So if I end up suspended or expelled, you’ll actually see a lot more of me on here.
If anyone wants to join in, I’d wager you only gotta show your shoulder. And write #iamnotadistraction on your arm.
Imma have fun with this: anger is going to make me SO self confident in my magic-skirt-crop-top outfit!!
Here’s a little something i wrote
From the dawn of the British empire, society established a set profiling system for the rank of classes and levels of appropriateness. You as a person are categorized by how much money you have, your education, and especially by what you wear. These standards of etiquette, made by men, have affected women even more than men. Women did not have the right or even the privilege to make their own choices until the birth of the suffragette movement. But even though we won that battle, it is evident we have not won the war. Society is still at the reins of controlling and regulating the bodies of women. Which brings us to a current social issue of school dress code being sexist and oppressive. Girls have been taught at a very young age that their bodies are sexually distracting so they must cover up. The blame is placed on the girls and how they dress. The idea that a woman, if not covered correctly, is not entitled to human decency and respect. It suggests that the body of a women in more inherently sexy than a man’s which brings the belief that women dress up for the wants and needs of men. This is called self – objectification when people view themselves as objects for use instead of as human beings. What often happens because of this could be any of the following: eating disorder, mental health disorders, and depression. Boys should be aware that this shines a negative light over any boy who blames the way a girl dresses for their actions. This promotes rape culture. It shows the act of being irresponsible for one’s own actions of sexual assault, harassment, etc. and leads victim blaming. The pressure to cover up, the pressure to hyper sexualize the female body performs as a contrast and is alive and well. The need to be sexy exists primarily because what influences are presented to women on social media, in newspapers, in magazine, on the internet, and from famous people and their endorsements. This can be changed by encouraging women to wear and do whatever makes them comfortable in their own skin and to dress for themselves and no one else. Why do we have all of these rules and regulations for women to abide by just so they may have their humanity respected. How many layers must we wear just so we can be seen as another human being and not just a distraction. For an entire world that relies on sight for the basis of our sense of judgment, we have never been so blind. Something has to change, not what we wear or our style of clothing, but our perception of the depths of other people’s character.
Dress code at my school limits girls on what they can wear but not boys. Seriously unfair.
#IAmMoreThanADistraction is trending on twitter now, as girls speak up against sexist and puritanical dress code enforcement.
I've already got fucking dress coded for wearing a sleeve shirt (it still covered my arms) but it didn't have any extra material going down the arm. 'The boys will be boys' is stupid, it is teaching us that what we wear is more important than our eduction. I know someone who was dress coded even though her shorts passed her finger tips because the one inch above her knee was too 'distracting'. The dress code is bull, and is just over sexualizing body parts. Do you know how degrading it is when teachers lecture you, and not the males? It's summer, I'm not wearing a fucking snow suit to school so that, boys won't be distracted.
Men aren't animals. Women aren't objects. Change starts now.
