How it started: I met @about_ibd at the first @healthevoices conference. We took a ferry from Jersey City to NYC with some friends at like 9’oclock at night and quickly bonded over a slice. We stayed up the second night of the conference and talked for like four hours. We became fast friends. She was funny and brilliant. We had kids around the same age. We had similar personalities. We both loved Prince and SciFi. She was very open and welcoming when it came to helping me fine tune my advocacy work. A couple of weeks later I was invited to join @janssenglobal ‘s sponsored #IBDSocialCircle of which Amber was a founding member. And we were in DC attending my first #IBD medical conference. It was our first trip to DC together, but not our last. Swipe—>Swipe Again —> How’s it going: We are officially co-founders of a non-profit aimed at helping moms affected by IBD either as caregivers and/or patients. What started off as a ferry ride seat partner as turned into a genuine sisterhood. What started off as a hashtag, is now a non-profit. 💜 IBD uprooted and completely changed the trajectory of my life. But its also given me strength, fuel, amazing friends and a new way to be of service to humanity. What can you expect from IBD? You can expect change. And know that change isn’t always bad! https://www.instagram.com/p/CITl48PjUTI/?igshid=ip3gylcqrdiz
