She was tired, but it was nothing new. Anymore it seemed like she was always tired. Even being on stage, which she loved more than anything did little to cure the weariness in her bones. The scandal hadn’t changed anything when it came to her family and co-workers. It wore them down, her members most of all. It caused them to struggle, and caused them pain. It hadn’t cost her job, but it had broken her spirit. Maybe not forever. Maybe broken was the wrong term. But it was fractured, raw, splintered pieces that caused her to ache when she breathed. That kept the smile from her eyes. 

As the lights fell and the crowds continued to cheer and chant, creating a deafening bubble of sound that enveloped them as they left the stage, Bom tucked safely between one of the male dancers and Daesung who helped her back stage so she didn’t trip in the darkness. Her thanks lacked its usual luster and the smile she flashed lasted only for seconds before she was off to the 2NE1 dressing room, where she stripped out of her show attire and dressed back down in the clothes she had worn in. She would shower back at the hotel. For now, her hair was pinned up and out of the way, her makeup removed with cool, soothing wipes and her personal effects packed into her bag. She had a hard time speaking with her members recently. 

She felt too ashamed for that. Too much guilt on her conscience for putting them through this kind of thing so close to the end of the year and when they were already under so much stress.  It was in Chaerin’s eyes, she was worried but didn’t know how to voice it. It was rare to them for their leader to be lost, and it left them in a kind of a limbo that suffocated her until the very last second as she slipped out of the room with a quiet ‘I’ll see you later.’ She hadn’t made it very far, her tennis shoes echoing softly off the walls before she was grabbed, pulled firm, but carefully into a small nook, a tiny amount of privacy. She wasn’t afraid, because there was nothing to be scared of. There was only one person in the world that would be doing this. 

Of course he would have noticed. And was probably worried too. Wanted her to talk to him about it, to say anything as long as it wasn’t more of her pretending nothing was wrong when it was so obvious that wasn’t the case. But she didn’t talk, but there was nothing she could say that wouldn’t just worry him more, add more stress or make things more complicated. She was still the elder, the Noona. She had to handle things by herself and stop relying on others to carry her through it. Easy to think, much harder in practice as she was discovering. 

“Can I?” The words caught her off guard, she hadn’t even noticed his touch, so soft and gentle, thumb barley ghosting along her bottom lip so lightly it was if he expected her to break. Usually bright brown eyes blinked slowly, struggling to process the leap from her thoughts to his question. Confusion lasting the span of seconds it took for his eyes to mark the path up from her lips to her gaze. It was the kind of look at always took her breath, could bring her to her knees, and today it made her heart skip a clumsy painful beat as she nodded her head, her fingers finding the hair at the nape of his neck as he pulled her into his chest, lips capturing hers and holding them hostage. 

 The kiss was anchoring, her fingers tangling gently in his hair a sharp contrast to the rough nature of the kiss, but she encouraged it, didn’t back down from the intensity. He always brought  this to her. Passion and savagery. He was a flame she was all too happy to be attracted to, not caring about the risk of catching fire. She didn’t stop him. Not even when foot steps followed her path down the hall, simply pulling her further into the darkness, pressing her back against the wall until he had invaded all of her senses. Her head swimming with the scent that lingered to his clothes and body mixed with sweat and the taste of his mouth amplified by the heat of his body and his hands against her waist. Kwon Jiyong was like an addiction, and she was happy to be an addict.
