Hey guys!
Update on how my IBY2 is going:
1. I submitted the final draft of my EE today
2. I finished the first draft of my math and french IA (I finished English and History in IBY1)
3. I’m working on my physics IA and will be submitting my first draft in December
4. I’m completely failing chemistry this term, haven’t even started with my IA
5. I applied to 7 universities so far, still looking to apply to around 2 more. (I sort of regret applying to so many)
6. I’m SO scared of going abroad for uni, but excited for it at the same time
7. I’m so scared of failing my CAS and TOK
8. I only sleep well on weekends, and I have atleast one mental breakdown every week
9. My finals start next week
I don’t know what to say other than that this is the reality of IB & highschool guys! I might be on top of my shit because I have most of my IA first drafts done and the final draft of my EE submitted, but I also am no way near done with CAS, have not yet started on my TOK essay or presentation cause my teacher is absolute crap, completely failing chemistry cause my teacher is also absolute crap, have no idea whether or not I want to go abroad for uni, and not getting proper sleep.
I’m honestly growing to despise all of the advice I’ve seen on the internet about IB that says “Stay on top of your game, and you’ll be just fine!” or “Make sure you’re done with your EE in summer, so you’ll have time to finish everything!” or “Complete most of your CAS in year 1!” because I feel that they are the MAIN source of my anxiety for this year, mainly because I’ve accomplished none of those. It’s led me to honestly doubt whether or not I will get my diploma.
My BIGGEST advice for IB, is to NOT set unrealistic expectations for yourself, and just trust your instincts and work on YOUR pace. Don’t listen to anyone else, because everyone has their own experience. Don’t compare your progress to anyone else’s, because that will make you doubt yourself, and that kills your productivity.
(@ my IBY2 peeps, i see you, stay strong. we’re so close!)
Good luck, peeps :)
