The Soldier takes another drag before he removes the coffin nail from his lips, holding it between thumb and index finger. “Let me ‘splain it like this.” and he explained it the best way he could, with Military metaphors.

“Ya can hate enemy Soldiers for Killing yer friends, but ya can’t blame them for doin’ their job. But you can blame their government for makin’ ‘em do it. ” Bills eyes lit up with rage “And hell, do I fuckin’ hate the spider asshole above with a passion.”

Lookit what my friend drew for my Horuss! He's great. I love the horsehead one, but he told me to make sure that I quote him saying "IT'S THE WORST ONE!"

I imagine Horuss and I have one physical trait in common, we both carry a hell of a lot of tension in our bodies. I literally lay in bed with my body tense and have to mindfully will it to loosen up with deep breathing. It has worsened my chronic pain over the years, and is making my recovery time from surgery longer and worse than it should be If I'm not actively willing myself to relax, then I'm tense again. This is full body. The worst is my pelvic floor, then my abdominal area. My back, all my limbs, my fingers and toes and jaw all are so tense all the time. And my physio therapist said it's pretty much all neurological, and I've gotta train myself out of it with relaxation techniques like breathing or yoga or tai chi for now I've opted for deep breathing/meditation because that I can do with no energy no problem So I headcanon my Horuss using meditation to control his tension and strength issues cause it's a similar struggle

So I've never really accepted the headcanon that grubloaf, grubsauce, etc foods in Homestuck are made from troll grubs. Yeah, lots of grubs get culled, turned into paints, probably used for dyes too. But notice the game grubs that trolls have for gaming/FLARP and not troll grubs, they're other species of bug. Trolls farm food grubs (beefgrubs), ones that probably eat plant matter, as that's more efficient than the Mother Grub laying both the general population and food supply, who likely requires a diet close to that of trolls but in massive quantities to constantly lay eggs. Beefgrubs are mentioned at least one in comic, which makes much more sense to eat. We already know that Lusii have blood colors similar to trolls, beefgrubs are likely similar in blood color variety. I'm not saying cannibalism is impossible on Alternia (and far less likely on Beforus due to you know, the lack of murder of trolls for no reason). It's just not sustainable in any way as a regular food source.

So I finally have some theories about Horuss’s switch from hating lowbloods to loving them, and it’s all about culling culture. 

From Meenaquest 3: Rufioh mentions how Horuss’s personality flipped without explanation... 

RUFIOH: remember the way you used to be... before you all started be1ng 1nterested 1n me... man you thought 1 sucked! haha, just another lowblood not worth your t1me. RUFIOH: you were so p1ssed at people l1ke me and damara... so angry, damn. sh*t was scary... and damara... she used to be n1ce as can be... dunno what happened there. talk about a personal1ty sw1tch... for both of ya... RUFIOH: but then for whatever reason... 1 guess you wanted to reach out to me? 1 mean... 1n secret, 1 know. you d1dn't want to be all shamed out of your h1ghbrow CIP club, 1 could always d1g that. 1 understood, you know?

“Just another lowblood not worth your time” - Horuss felt that lowbloods weren’t worth his time. But, as a highblood with a lot of life and lots of money and plenty of space in his hive, he was likely destined to be a culler. His hive would be home to lowblood after lowblood for the rest of his life, his money would go to supporting them. Would he have time for personal life? Or would it all be spent taking care of these entitled lowbloods who got a free ride just because there was one thing off about them? 

I’m thinking what happened after that was school feeding. Like, of course the government would have to teach these shitty highbloods in school that it was their duty to their empire to cull trolls and give them better lives. More effort was probably spent on brainwashing highbloods to accept Beforan culling practices than lowbloods, because the highbloods have the power, the ultra long lifespan, and the means to carry out the culling. 

Schoolfeeding made him hate lowbloods a lot less. He didn’t respect them, but he didn’t hate them as much, nor was he as angry about culling. That’s when he was like I’m gonna go and experiment romantically and secretly with one, then he fell in love and all hope was lost. He still spoke poorly of other lowbloods, either to save face, or because he actually believed they were below him. 

Now my muse is just really trying to get out of thinking culling was good, trying to ignore the hemospectrum, trying to be more thoughtful, but sometimes he’s shit. 

tl;dr

My Horuss is like a conservative turned liberal. They’ll still say shit that sits wrong with you, but you’re like “Well at least they aren’t voting republican anymore and they’re trying, and i’ll tell them in private later that the thing they said was a slur cause i don’t think they knew” and you cringe and take a few shitty comments occasionally because there was some vast improvement there and you gotta correct them still but you don’t make it a big deal cause it’s not worth making a scene.
