“Nope, these two first, and then you get the last one.” The best gift had to be saved for last, it was one of the unwritten rules. He still thought she would like the first two, both in nicely wrapped boxes with comically large bows on top ( he had already jokingly shown up with one of them on his head ) . The first one was a sweater, nice and soft, made of a warm material, and with a beautiful quote on it: “Never half-ass two things. Whole-ass one thing.” Iconic. The other gift was one he had found about a month ago, but had waited to buy for her until now because they weren’t exactly something he wanted to give her on Christmas when her brothers were around. Lollipops by themselves were fine ( he knew now much of a sweet tooth she had ) , but he didn’t really want to give them to her when they said, “I Bloody Love You,” “You’re Damn Fine,” and “Let’s Fuck.” They were definitely more of a one-on-one gift than a surrounded-by-your-family-who-will-judge-me gift.
