Rollo considers his next words, a bit of a loss when this is the first time for participating in his own free will. And for her sake, at that. " I'm willing to tag along with you for today, if you'll allow me. I'll make it certain no one will try to scare you. " Well, there's nothing wrong with spending more time with her.

Save Kido from Halloween 2k23 (unprompted) | Accepting!

Kido both liked and hated this holiday, but mostly hated it. She always put on an act of being calm and collected, the 'cool' one, but those within her inner circle knew her weakness. She was scared of ghosts. As time went on, more and more people figured this out and she hated it. But she wasn't going to deny how happy the holiday made her friends. Momo absolutely loved halloween, and her energy was infectious. If anything it was nice to see her prank other people on occasion while Kido focused on just getting through the day.

She blinked as she looked over the basket, black eyes shifting between it and Rollo. "Oh." She hadn't been expecting for him to consider her with this. "Thank you." She smiled, grabbing a single lollipop out of the basket. Grape flavor is superior. she unwraps it and pops it into her mouth before stopping her movements for a moment. Then, in a rather comedic manner, she looks up at Rollo in surprise while holding the edge of the lollipop stick.

"Oh." She felt almost embarrassed. No, scratch that, she was flustered. It was...nice. It was nice of Rollo to offer. Especially when she knew that Kano and Momo were likely cooking something up to scare her as the night went on. She pushed some of her hair behind her ear and nodded sheepishly. "I'd like that....can you wait a moment, though? I did get a costume. I wasn't going to wear it but..." Maybe with Rollo, it would be worth dressing up since she wouldn't have to worry about running around trying to get away from people. Plus....maybe she wanted to impress Rollo, just a bit. "I'll be right back."

She disappears for a moment, and when she reappears....she is wearing a rather princely outfit. "Kalim got this for me awhile back to wear unironically. I figured it would be a good outfit for today...." She still seemed abit shy, glancing at Rollo to see his reaction.

When Rollo finds Kido asleep as she laid her head on his shoulder, he leans over to place a kiss on her forehead. Whether she was still conscious and closing her eyes or not, Rollo would not like to think about it. Just the thought of her finding out has him feel his ears burning.

He watches the sunrise, keeping her close a little while longer. A moment of respite. For the first time, his mind is quiet.

Have a good rest, Kido.

She had been asleep for some time, but had woken up to shift slightly against Rollo due to stiff muscles. Her eyes had remained closed the whole time and she easily fell back into a still state. So she doesn't blame him for thinking she was still sleeping. It honestly takes every ounce of will in her body not to react when he kisses her forehead. Her long hair had easily hid any kind of evidence of her face heating up, and she managed to keep her breathing normal.

Still, she finds it was more comforting than nerve wracking as it probably should have been all things considered. She could think of the consequences of such an action later.

For now....she felt safe.

When the basketball rolled at her feet, she decided to come out of her haze and appear visible to the one who had lost it. She picked it up and against her better judgement, tried to take a shot from where she was. Surprising everyone present, she made the shot. Which prompted the guy to ask her for a game, but she backpedaled quickly.

"It was just a lucky shot."

"I--" I tripped, she had tried to get out of her mouth. It wasn't a lie, but it wasn't the entire truth either. But both of these got stuck in her throat. She looked haunted, terrified even.Not like when the ghosts of the dorm scared her, but something had truly and deeply, unsettled Kido. Shook her to her very core.

She opens her mouth to try again, but nothing comes out. She reaches up to cover her mouth, her hand now shaking. Her bloodied legs shook too. She had scraped them and tore her pants around the knees in the process while trying to get away from what she thought she saw. Yeah....it had to have been a hallucination. She's just jumpy since most of the halloween decorations were still up! Yeah, Yeah that was it.

There was no way she saw her foster father in the shadows, looking at her with red eyes....

But if it had been just a hallucination, then why was she suddenly clinging to Rollo? gripping onto the front of his uniform as if her life depended on it. She wasn't crying, though tears did threaten to fall from her eyes. She was simply scared.

Was all the peace she worked for here about to be undone?

You know, just once she'd like to have a normal day. Just once. But leave it to her to run into some supervillain while outrunning a villain of her own. Thankfully the snake of clearing eyes seemed to have retreated once this guy got involved. He had unintentionally saved her, whether he realized it or not. She wondered how hard he would roll his eyes if she said that aloud, but instead she decided to give him a hand as a favor.

"I wouldn't go that way if I were you. Unless you want to run into Spiderman on one of his patrols." Kido said, pulling her hood fully over her head. "Take a left and keep going until you hit the movie theater and stay there for like five minutes if you want to be clear of him before he moves down a few streets."

Without even waiting for him to acknowledge the information, her eyes flashed red. If he had been looking at her when they did so, he'd only see it briefly before it appeared as if she disappeared from sight.

With her being out of sight now, she carefully walked down the fire escape to get off the roof of the building. She probably shouldn't have helped a supervillain like that, but hey - he's spiderman's problem, not hers. All she needed to do was get home before the clearing eyes found her again.

She puts the food she's made down onto the coffee table and sits on the ground next to it. She pushes Rollo's food closer to him, making sure he actually eats dinner for once. Somehow, the question doesn't surprise her. She follows his gaze towards the fireplace then back to him as she shrugs her shoulders.

She's silent at first, cracking open her soda before taking a sip. "I'm from an island nation called Japan, and we lived in the city of Tokyo." She starts, she's not going to break down the city to him, they'd be here for hours. "The technology here is honestly about on par with what we have back home, it's just minus the magic....Well, in some respects." She looks down at her can for a moment, wondering if she should explain the whole snake of the Medusa thing. It felt wrong to just completely lie, considering Mary wasn't human and Kido didn't want to exclude their friendship like that.

"There are mystical creatures," She starts out. "But they're hidden away, and aren't the majority of society. So technically, magic does exist, but it's like, less than 5% of the population." She figured that was a good guess, but then again she didn't know many mystical creatures outside of Mary and a handful of others in passing.

"Most magic exists in stories, legends, myths -" She hummed as she looked up from her soda and munches on abit of her food. "I had some....strange circumstances growing up, so I always believed in magic, or something akin to it. But most people go their whole lives without experiencing or believing in magic." She looks at Rollo again with a tilt of her head. Silently questioning if he had any other questions on the topic.

She freezes upon hearing a voice, and when she looked up,she's surprised to see who it is. "And you're--" She never caught his name, but she was sure that he killed vampires for a living. She puts her hands up for a moment, at least showing that she had nothing on her before putting her hands into the pockets of her hoodie. Her eyes show to be red once he is closer, but one blink and the color is gone, as if he had been only seeing things.

How was it that he seemed to catch her while she was under the influence of her concealing eyes? Perhaps he was just too sharp. The first time, she hadn't been, and seeing as he remembered her appearance, he could find her if he looked hard enough....Still, for someone who barely knew her to see through her power, he must be someone dangerous. But at the very least, he asked questions before taking action.

"Do I look calm? Well, I guess my acting is getting better." She jokes, a hint of a dry chuckle. "I have my reasons for seeming so, I guess. I mean hey, I'm not being chased by vampires this time, right?" She had been practicing concealing her scent with her powers as well, which had been helpful for the small fry at least. Any vampire worth their salt could likely tell the difference, even with the faint scent of an actual human clinging to her due to a friend. It wasn't enough to completely smother the medusa's presence.

"I'm just on my way home again. Not causing trouble, promise." The trouble had already been caused, so she was telling the truth, wasn't she? All while completely avoiding the question of her being 'normal'. Which might have been an answer itself.
