Though the worst of the threats to all worlds had been handled by the efforts of Sora - and others, Leon knew that, but there was no denying the enormity of what Sora had done - it hadn't erased all Heartless. Or Nobodies. Or... the strange new creatures that Leon had heard called Unversed. Monsters, really. It was the simplest term to use and encapsulated all of them. Monsters were in the world and were here to stay.
For better or for worse.
It wasn't really that bad. The defense system of the world kept the Heartless out of the main town, and no one was supposed to go into the outskirts. That didn't mean they never did though, and while it was impossible to get rid of all of the threats, they could try to... reduce them. It helped a little for when some stubborn child decided that wandering off into the areas labeled as expressly forbidden.
Today's expedition had been... rough. Returning home, he was limping and barely standing, and while he might have been able to hold it together long enough to reach Aerith, all his plans and good intentions crumbled when he bumped into Lea.
A low groan escaped from Leon as he allowed himself a moment to just lay there. He'd have to stand himself; even if Lea could help support him, Leon wasn't exactly a small man, both in terms height and body weight.
"Sorry." He'd look back at this moment later and would probably feel horrifically embarrassed, but he didn't have time to mull over that now. Instead Leon just slowly pushed himself to his feet, bracing himself against the nearby wall to keep upright.
"-- don't need Aerith. She's busy. I can-" His words broke off with a hiss and a groan from the pain rattling around his head, and Leon reached up to press a hand against his forehead.
"... bandages. Done it before. Just need to get back... home."
