There's a whole box of nest supplies out in the pigeon run to choose from, but it was cold today, so Valo insisted on stealing directly from Swissy's nest instead. And then proceeded to build the world's shittiest nest on top of his wife.

Poofy pigeons could not give less of a fuck about the snow
Me: oh man the snow is really coming down all of a sudden. I bet the pigeons don't want anything to do with this and are hiding inside, I'll go put them to bed early
The pigeons: Almost all outside eating snow like it's the most delicious thing to ever exist
Fantails (aka feathered foot club) are the only ones even remotely interested in coming out after last night's snowfall. Everyone else will stay in the heated sleeping room, thank you very much.
Update on pigeon nest drama!
After both Pluto and Sari laid their eggs on the bare ass ground, I gave them next boxes and tried to set them up for a bit more success in their chosen nest spots. Got some very strong judgement for my attempts to help (pic 1), and then both pairs opted to just bicker over one of the boxes/one egg, leaving the other completely abandoned??
Ok. Sure. So I put the abandoned egg in the nest box with the desired egg and swapped a fake into the abandoned nest.
Well, now we kind of just have a communal nest box. Both boys help incubate, both girls help supervise when one of the boys is on the eggs (pic 2). And then today, both girls laid their second egg in the same box (pic 3). They've just kind of unanimously decided to be coparents. So it will be very interesting to see how this plays out long term lol.
Friend and I were making jokes about where Sari would nest, as she is often not the best at selecting the ideal nest spot. However, neither of us predicted this one.
Sari is very pleased w herself this morning - she figured out one easy trick to keep me away from her baby! Simply lay the egg in front of the door, and then I can't get in!
I will have to break the news to her shortly that this would also mean no breakfast. And then we will have to move her, lol.
