My favourite colour is blue and I don't want children.

Until quite recently, I thought my favourite colour was red. Then one day I decided to finally buy towels in colours I liked, instead of colours that just were there, or colours that I had inherited. At home, I realised I'd walked away with a pile of towels in all shades of blue. Until quite recently, I had always had the vague idea I'd get children one day. You know, I'd unite with some man and then children would appear. Recently I was visiting my sister and was out in the yard playing with her 5-year old daughter, who was busily "making food" with buckets and water and bits of grass, and she announced "... and you'll be the mother and you'll say when the soup is ready..." and my first thought was "But I don't want to be the mother!" and then I realised I don't want to be a mother at all. Pretend or otherwise. Quite a shock, really. My favourite colour is blue and I don't want children.
