Gaming nights together were Idia's favorites. Your body felt heavy, resting your head against the soft pillows as you looked up at your phone, propped up on a handy holder attached to the headboard. The soft shuffle of blankets. Heat slowly rose to his face. 

Steady breathing, signaling your sleep. With wide eyes, he finally looked directly at your face, his chest feeling tight, the pace trapped inside quickening. Blue lips parted, revealing sharp teeth as he took a deep, shaky breath.

He wasn't sure why, but there was something so exciting about having you sleep on his bed. Something intimate, something he refused to name. As the door finally closed, he tiredly rubbed his eyes. He was up all night watching over you. 

With slow steps, he reached his bed, carefully laying down on the edge. A pale hand traced over the sheets, finding a warmer area, and a tingling sensation spread through his body. He closed his eyes, forcing them to stay shut, and finally dared to lay his head on one of the pillows. 

Your warmth. Your sleeping face. Idia could almost see it as he let his hand wander up, finding the pillow you lay your head on. And, after a long minute, he pulled it close to his face, inhaling deeply.

A sudden burst of pink sparked in the air, the light bouncing on every shiny surface. Idia's body instinctively curled up, his grip tight against the soft pillow. He felt dizzy, almost out of breath, as something delicate, hidden deep within his heart, suddenly bloomed.

When the trembling started, hands sweating as the tightness in his chest became unbearable, he knew it was time to stop. 

The blanket was folded neatly at the foot of the bed, a pillow laying on top of it. With this, he could survive the rest of the week until you visited again.

he stares back.

Idia Shroud is hunched over his setup, hair practically lighting up in neon streaks, headset slightly askew as he mutters to himself like he’s in a different universe entirely.

“YOU DID IN MY HEART ATTACK SIMULATOR, OKAY??” he snaps automatically, then immediately shrinks back into himself. “I mean—sorry. Sorry. That was… loud. I hate loud.”

you stare at him.

he stares back for half a second.

then looks away first.

of course he does.

“…why are you here,” he mumbles.

you gesture vaguely. “I thought I was supposed to meet you.”

silence.

he slowly turns back.

“…you were?”

you nod.

he freezes.

then visibly short-circuits.

“NO ONE TOLD ME THAT— I DIDN’T PREPARE FOR SOCIAL PATCH NOTES TODAY—” he starts spiraling, hands flailing slightly. “I’M NOT RENDERED FOR THIS ENCOUNTER—”

you raise your hands. “it’s fine.”

“IT’S NOT FINE,” he insists instantly, then lowers his voice to a frantic whisper. “I have like… 3% social battery left and that’s reserved for emergency NPC dialogue—”

you sit down anyway.

that shuts him up.

he just stares at you sitting there like it broke a system rule he didn’t know existed.

“…you’re just… sitting,” he says finally.

“yeah.”

“in my room.”

“yeah.”

he processes that for a second.

then slowly turns back toward his screens like they might offer emotional stability.

“…you’re weird,” he mutters.

you shrug. “you invited me.”

“I DIDN’T—” he starts, then pauses. “…I didn’t… explicitly uninvite you.”

you smile a little.

he notices.

immediately panics again.

“STOP DOING THAT,” he blurts.

“doing what?”

“LOOKING LIKE THAT,” he says, shrinking into his hoodie. “LIKE YOU’RE… COMFORTABLE HERE. THAT’S NOT NORMAL.”

you tilt your head. “maybe it should be.”

he goes quiet at that.

just for a second.

then he turns slightly away, fiddling with his controller.

“…don’t get used to it,” he mutters.

a pause.

then, even quieter:

“…but you can stay for like… one match.”

he hesitates.

“…maybe two if matchmaking doesn’t ruin my life again.”
