The clouds are thick and dark, looming over the horizon with flashes of lightning and a deep rumbling that seems to vibrate through his very being. The waters below slosh and churn, matching the intensity of the weather with a viciousness only the earth itself could. Sigurd kneels low, hiding in a cove above the shore. His eyes are on the sea, where the water and the sky meet, as he waits. The Seers had said that there was something coming, and he knows that they didn't mean the weather. He's been out here nearly every day since, waiting.

It's close, whatever it is -- he can feel it in his bones.

His brothers are both on a hunt today, and were not all that thrilled that he had decided to stay behind. "You are wasting time," Mads had scoffed impatiently, his brow furrowed in frustration. Björn didn't seem to disagree, but he'd kept his mouth pinched shut. "You're taking their words too seriously." Perhaps that is true, but he'd ignored their warnings before and had paid for it. He doesn't intend to do that now.

The wind turns sharp and biting, and he crouches lower, leaning towards the rock, to avoid being knocked down. The water doesn't scare him; he sometimes feels as though he were borne from it. But he knows that he wouldn't survive from this height in a storm. He stares out at the vastness, resigned to the fact that he needs to leave before he gets too stiff and can't make it. There's nothing out here, and even if there were, he's not sure they'd make it in this storm. He pushes his hair out of his eyes, carefully standing and maneuvering himself out of the cove. It takes more focus than he'd like to admit to get back to the shore; he still has to get back up, away from the water, but that isn't all that dangerous comparatively.

Still, he pauses and looks out at the ocean, how it seems to be rolling from deep within. It's a feeling that he knows very well. A sort of rage, sorrow, and unease that boils in the center of his very being and threatens to spill out. He takes in a deep breath, the scent of the ocean bringing a sort of sense of peace and grounding. He closes his eyes for a moment, a shiver running down his spine. For a moment, there's a stillness, a silence, and it sets every nerve on edge. In this sort of silence, he hears something strange, and he opens his eyes to see something on the water.

A ship.

His heart racing, he turns and scrambles up to the safety of the cliff -- solid ground, his village a few miles behind him. This is what the Seers had meant. Whoever is on that ship is going to bring change, for better or worse. Sigurd pulls the hood of his dark cloak over his head as the rain starts, watching the ship rock precariously with the incoming storm.

The Reaper, is what the sailors call him when they hit the shores. Their ship in ruins, half the crew severely injured or dead, and all they'd seen was a hooded figure on the cliff. An omen.
