I find it really fucking funny that many pieces evidence for the Transfem Jax Theory (ie Jax’s room and its colors, abstraction eye color, egg comment) will often be met with “oh that doesn’t mean anything!” by some people in the fandom, but for the hit-and-run theory people will use old promo material of Jax driving those toy cars as evidence and people are like “yep, that’s definitely proof he RAN SOMEONE OVER!”

It just really bothers me in a way that I can’t describe.

the thing about the foot-touch press conference scene is that it happens in episode 1. the same episode which opens on the shane introducing himself scene, wherein shane gets the impression that ilya is an arrogant asshole or at least kind of rude because of how reluctant he is to speak. the foot-touch scene is significant, then, not merely because it shows shane is able to perceive ilya’s discomfort and struggle with the language barrier and step in to offer support, but also because it exists in contrast to shane’s failure to recognize that struggle in ilya previously. it’s tied to that opening scene in that it directly indicates growth. ilya looks panicked for a second when he first hears his name in the intro scene. he’s navigating that conversation in english alone. and then by the time we get to the press conference, he’s not alone anymore.

I love accents. Idc if I need subtitles sometimes one day I'll learn to go without. Let me hear how people actually talk. I don't want the cleaned out "correct" pronunciation, languages are not mathematic sciences, they're harnessed and shaped by the people and the people live in different societies and different places and it is beautiful that it shows in something as mundane as the way they speak.
