Igaluk -- Inuit lunar deity
@fyeahmyths two week summer event day two: North American Pairing → Malina and Igaluk
Malina is a solar deity of the Greenland Inuit and is the sister of the lunar god Igaluk, sometimes called, Anningan. Malina is constantly fleeing from Igaluk as the result of strife between the two siblings. Igaluk believed his sister to be the most beautiful woman, and so that night, as everyone slept, he crept into the women’s dwelling and forced himself upon her. As it was dark, Malina was unable to tell who her attacker was, but the next night, when the same thing happened, she covered her hands with the soot from the oil lamps and smeared Igaluk’s face with it. She later searched for the man with the mark and was surprised to find that the man was her own brother. Malina ran from Igaluk, grabbing a torch as she went. Igaluk chased after her, likewise taking a torch, however, he tripped and dropped his torch, and the flame was put out, except for a faint glow. Eventually Igaluk was able to catch his sister, and the two ran so fast that they became spirits and were lifted into the sky. Malina and her lit torch became the sun, while Igaluk and his fading torch became the moon. Igaluk continued to pursue his sister and their constant chase is the traditional explanation for the movement of the sun and moon through the sky.
Today 6 years ago this wee little bundle of joy arrived in our lives! He’s still has the same cheerie personality but in a slightly bigger package. He’s the best brother Atka could have (Even if she still doesn’t like to share her toys 🐖🐟🐶) #malamutesofinstagram #teamkadzait #igaluk #bestfriends #teambouncer https://www.instagram.com/team_kadzait/p/ByerxEVoX0V/?igshid=2qi8jw3lwwcg

TPLO inspired home decoration part 2: how to slip proof the kitchen - buy a bunch of gym mats and tape them on the floor with the help of Igaluk, of course. Let’s hope these work better than the rubber we got last year for TPLO nr 1. #teamkadzait #malamutesofinstagram #surgery #littlehelper #Igaluk #tplosurgery #tplotake2 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bw4IV5vnmTQ/?igshid=ci66ovpgqtcb
