This weekend Christmas came a month late. Miraculously, my mom's best friend, Nancy, happened to be here in Guinea for work and the stars aligned and I had the chance to stay a night with her in Conakry. ___ I've known Nancy since I was born. She and my mom met in college and have done work in Kenya together. Nancy currently works for JHPIEGO, a fantastic organization that is doing Public Health work here in Guinea and I will hopefully be able to connect with them during my next two years here because of her (like I said, the stars aligned). Not only did I spend a wonderful two days with Nancy but I got the feel the closest I possibly could to hugging my own mother by having her here. After a much needed night in air conditioning with a hot shower, a gym, a few good meals, and of course, great company, I'm ready to take on the last few weeks of pre-service training and dive in head first to these next two years. _____ #worldtravelingfamily #peacecorpsguinea #whataretheodds #igottoeatrealcheese (at Africa/Conakry)
