who’s ready to rally at the @illscarlettband set in Montréal?? 🙋🎶
Our sixty-ninth band announced for the Montréal lineup is ILLSCARLETT!
Initially meeting in high school, illScarlett is a four-member band from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Their name was born after the guys saw a local street in Mississauga, Will Scarlett Drive. Their unique sound can be defined as pop infused rock/reggae. The band found their break when they decided to play outside the 2004 Vans Warped Tour venue for fans waiting in line to get in, using a generator to power their equipment. Kevin Lyman noticed them and invited them to play at his personal barbecue and subsequently, they were offered spots on the tour for the following two years. Following a hiatus, the band has resumed live performances, including appearances in 2024 and 2025, and has announced a new album and tour planned for 2026.

11) “Life of a Soldier” - illScarlett
I swear to god, I will finish this list if it kills me.
illScarlett is yet another of the myriad artists that the Roommate got me into during our time in undergrad. Coming in on a ska high as I was, it was fairly easy to transition into white-guy reggae-rock (I also got into the likes of Bedouin Soundclash and Pepper, among others). “Life of a Soldier” has always held a special place in my heart because right around the time I got into illScarlett, my darling dearest baby brother was being accepted into West Point. He has since graduated from that institution, gotten married, and is now serving admirably as an officer in our United States Army. I’ll be honest, I got a lot more interested in our international relations when I realized that I could one day have a very personal stake in their outcome. And, even though my brother has yet to be stationed overseas, I’d be lying if I didn’t say that the bridge of this song doesn’t fill me with a bit of trepidation, worst-case-scenario type thinker that I am.
Enjoy.
