living within the palace walls was something cassie was still getting used to . with her father’s promotion to general came many perks , one of which was that they were now to reside within the palace , which was quite the change from her home before not that she was complaining . the downside , though , was that there were times where she felt as if she didn’t so much live there as she was confined to the palace . she had found excitement in exploring , however , hoping to possibly sneak a glance at some of the royals’ secrets . her father had introduced her to the king , but she wondered if she could manage to find the mysterious prince who didn’t seem to leave the palace very often .
she was exploring the eastern edges of the palace land , more or less sneaking around , when she heard the sound of approaching guards . not wanting to get caught , she started sprinting in the opposite direction , causing her to collide with someone , nearly sending her falling to the ground . ❝ i’m sorry , ❞ she apologized in a hushed voice . ❝ i think i got a little lost . ❞

IT HAD BEEN at least a lifetime ago since Harry had traveled back to Auradon. When he had left, he had been young, angry, impetuous... he had been kicked too many times while he was down, and the offer to go to Auradon had not appealed. But now he returned less angry... less young.
Perhaps just as impetuous.
Thick boots hit the dock with a low thud, and he glanced around, taking in everything he had never seen before. “So this was what everyone was whining about,” he remarked, mostly to himself. “It doesn’t look like much, does it?”

❝ so it’s something you call your significant other? ❞ she asked, glancing over at him. chris was cassie’s go-to person when it came to questions about korean; jagiya was something cassie had heard peggy call steve on multiple occasions while she’d grown up, and she’d been curious about it for a while. finally, she had remembered to ask chris about it. ❝ so, say that you and i were, like, married or dating, or something ❞ there was a pause as she reached out, grabbing his hand with both of hers. ❝ i could hold your hand like this, and just, ❞ she started again, pausing once more as she looked into his eyes, a small smile playing at her lips. ❝ jagiya~ ❞

it wasn’t an extraordinary day; in fact, it was quite the opposite. they’d gone out for a late lunch like they often did, and it was nothing new for them. it was comfortable, it was normal, it was them.
❝ hold still, ❞ she said with a click of her tongue. ❝ you’ve got something on your face. ❞ without hesitation, she reached over and used to her thumb to wipe away a sizable splotch on his face from his food. ❝ i swear, you’re the messiest eater i know. ❞ she let out a chuckle as she leaned back into her seat, but her demeanor changed when she started hearing cries of panic.
being who she was, she immediately sprang to her feet and walked towards the people around them, gaze surveying the area around them. she saw people screaming and crying, and people being turned to dust. panic started to set in as she looked for a source, but a voice calling her name pulled her back.
she swore her heart stopped and her blood felt like ice. turning back to face him, she barely managed to choke back a sob at the sight of him. as he was standing there, she could already see the edges of him fading, particles of dust blowing into the air.
❝ no! ❞ she exclaimed, running towards him just in time to collapse to her knees with him, her arms wrapping around him as if her life depended on it as if it would stop him from quite literally disappearing. i don’t feel so good, he had said with a chuckle, and cassie wanted to smack him right then and there. how could he be joking when he was quite literally turning to dust?
❝ shut up, ❞ she choked out, tears already rolling down her cheeks. ❝ you can’t do this. you promised. you promised you’d always be here. ❞ she paused as she sobbed, pulling him closer as she buried her face in his shoulder. ❝ you can’t leave me. ❞
she was fully sobbing as he pulled back from her again, leaning into his touch as he brushed her hair out of her face and tried to wipe her tears away. come on, cass. one last smile for me? she stifled another sob at his words, but tried her hardest to smile brightly at him though she knew it must look nothing like a smile.
and then, like someone blowing onto a dandelion, he dissipated into dust in her arms.
can you believe ant-man’s daughter and captain america and peggy’s son are gonna get married some day?
