HEAVY,  huffing breaths come from Xia,  dual blades against the enemy’s throat.  A horrid Grimm,  that gnashed and gnawed at their throat.  However,  Xia managed to push it off,  and it lands against the forest floor.  Lan stands taller than them,  and Xia is near doubled over,

❛  WELL,  I can’t let you fight alone!  ❜

WORDS SPOKEN in fear and worry only cause more worry still  -  her trust in them is founded in something,  they’re sure,  but Xia can only become anxious at the idea.  Lan had done much for them,  helping them escape,  and yet…  They had told her before.  They would leave for Haven,  to get out of Lan’s hair.

AFTER ALL,  she had been their rescuer,  their knight in shining armor,  but Xia is not a princess.  They are not someone desirable,  in any way.  But…  Still,  Lan wished to go with them.  

❛  I-I…  ❜  they cannot help it  -  they stutter and hide their face.  How are they supposed to stop her  -  their knight in shining armor wished to protect them still.  ❛  I-I guess I can’t stop you.  J-Just…  s-stay safe.  ❜

❛  I’M SORRY.  ❜  guilty,  they sound guilty,  even as more sobbing comes from their throat.  ❛  I-I’m so sorry...  I-I shouldn’t bother you.  ❜   

STILL,  they nuzzle into Lan’s arms,  trying to find a place most secluded in her grasp.   ❛  I-I just...  I can’t get used to this...  I lived under that horrible,  horrible man for so long,  Lan...  What am I going to do?  Wh-what if I never get used to freedom.  ❜
