Graphic Design - Final Project
Create a portfolio of 10+ high quality designs that display your best work. You should include pieces that show your versatility and ability to work with both Illustrator and Photoshop. At a minimum, your portfolio should cover the following topics (some may qualify as more than 1 category): website design, photo editing, photo manipulation, a tutorial (a more advanced one), at least 2 Illustrator artwork examples, an Illustrator & Photoshop combo, and at least 2 unique/original pieces. You might have some of these already, however you are now more experienced and know more, so go back and touch them up or even redo them from the beginning. Once you know which files you want, you will put them into InDesign, add your cover page, a short introduction page, and divider pages.
Your project pages are the meat of your portfolio. They need to be high quality and fully complete. Since you are better now than you were in October, you may want to go back and redo some of your Illustrator work or redo some of your Photoshop projects from January. Maybe you have new thoughts and ideas that you would like to express and would like to create a new project. You may feel that your tutorials were too basic and would like to do another, more advanced tutorial. There are very, very few instances in which your work will not need any touch-ups.
Your cover should include some artwork, photo edit, or photo manipulation. It is the face of your portfolio so it should represent your work and personality. You need to include somewhere on the cover your name and the date.
The introduction page should include a short paragraph or two about yourself and your design style. Think about answering questions such as: What would you like your style to be like? Who/What inspires you? Why do you like graphic design? What do you hope to accomplish in your art/design career?
These pages will help divide your work into 2 sections: Photoshop and Illustrator. These will help your portfolio to flow better and give an additional chance to showcase your creativity. These pages should include artwork and possibly explanations to your work and why you chose those specific projects.
You should have an explanation for each piece of artwork in your portfolio. You can place these explanations on the actual artwork or on your divider pages. The explanation should identify why you selected that specific piece of artwork and how it shows that you’re awesome. Here is a formula that will make this easy: mention what techniques you used + discuss what you created the design for +
