Family Matters; my first OTP

So my otp is Caryl. 

I was thinking though.. The first two fictional characters from a show I ever ‘shipped’ together was Steve Urkel  and Laura Winslow from ‘Family Matters’. That! Now that was a pair I never, ever thought would get together. It came out in 1989, I believe... Yes lol My age is showing but.... It ended when I was 18 or 19 and I remember watching the last few seasons and just... feeling what I feel when I see any kind of Caryl post one here. I shipped Steve and Laura so fucking hard. And finally! At the end, Steve and Laura come together and he just knows how much she’s always loved Urkel. 

I had so much hope over the years growing up and watching Family Matters, seeing those two amazing actors grow up on tv and relating to Jaleel Whites character so much (being a huge nerd myself) and wanting to be Urkel.  Kellie Shanygne Williams as Laura, so beautiful and just that every girl girl next door. I wanted them to grow up and fall in love so bad. So every Friday from 1989 to 1998, I watched it and grew up with them. It was wonderful.. I digress though...

But I get the same happy, warm, fuzzy feelings when I see Carol and Daryl. I have so much hope and faith in this ship that I will never jump it. 

I love this fandom so much and I have talked to many other amazing Carylers and Richonners and just - everyone is wonderful. I’m so glad I came to Tumblr. I really wish that it had been around back in the day when I shipped Urkel and Laura as hardcore as I ship Caryl.

I haven’t made any friends here. I’ve sent a few messages to people, asked some questions (as myself, without using anon) and have never gotten replies back. That’s okay. I’m a shy guy. I know how intense the shipping differences, preferences have become. It has caused issues within my role play group between Carol, Maggie and Beth, Tara, Abe, Merle, Lizzy, Mika, myself, as Daryl.... (All wonderful people OOC, but still, claws are flying) I came to Tumblr because my friend who plays Merle is here and has quite a few friends. I wish I was as charismatic as the person who plays Merle lol but I’m not.  However, I try to remain out of it. I am here for all the amazing Caryl shippers, the blogs, the interesting people and conversations I see.... Feeding my feels for Melissa McBride, whom I adore with every fiber of my being... I stay out of tags I want nothing to do with. I try to stay away from the negativity. In my mind, Caryl has and always will be, Canon. It’s there. On film, for all to see. Those who don’t well ..... pity for them. Anyways - I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who reads this, has followed me and for all the Caryl loveliness out there for me to grasp onto. I love it. Every bit. <3

Got 21 followers now, thanks a lot to everyone! So, I’m just wondering, are there any other men out there that ship Caryl as hard as I do? xD

Melissa McBride is my heroine. She gave Carol a voice all of her own. Melissa realized Carol’s depth before anyone else did, perhaps besides us. Even in season one, Carol wasn’t //just// a background character, ready to be thrown into a herd of Walkers. She had that certain something from the moment she appeared into the lens and no one can tell me any differently. It was subtle and stealthy. It was beautiful. <3
