Summary: A quick countdown drabble of their first NYE together <3
A/N: I wanted to put out something short and sweet for Christmas but that obviously didn't happen so I wrote this in half an hour just to celebrate the New Years. Happy 2026 to everyone and hoping for a queer happy healthy year for yall! I hope I write more this year (I pray for all my fellow writers as well, let's make a circle-)
The party is still ongoing downstairs.
Your girlfriend didn't seem like the type to host a party, but then again with the year that they've been through, they deserved a party.
Your girlfriend has successfully established herself in the city - becoming one of the names that people feared and respected.
So when Kate suggested they host a party in your house, you thought about rejecting it, but then again you've gotten quite close with most of them.
It would be fun to have a drink with everyone.
Countdown.
Watch the fireworks.
Yeah, you agreed.
And once you agreed, your girlfriend couldn't really say no.
Which led to your current...position.
Standing on the balcony of your room, looking down at the party where some of them are out in the garden having a drink and chatting.
You can still hear the music blasting from downstairs, some 80's club hits that Clint put on after he stole DJ duty from Kate. You were about six drinks in, with a mix of wine and liquor - you'll probably regret it tomorrow morning, but that's tomorrow's problem.
You can feel the heat in your body and the slight fuzziness from the alcohol clouding your mind.
Despite all that, you somehow still felt your girlfriend's presence behind you before you felt her hands wrap around your waist.
"What are you doing up here, princess?" her voice was that much huskier cause she's a few drinks in as well.
"Getting some air, it was getting hot."
She leans her head on your shoulder, mirroring how you're looking down at the people, "You want me to send them back?"
"No! It's fine. It's almost 12 anyway. Would be a bummer to send them back now," you can see Kate and Carol talking animatedly at one corner while Bucky balances four glasses walking past people from the entrance.
"Hmmm."
It's crazy that it's been more than half a year since you started dating Natasha. You'd never imagine that your life would change this much when you first attended that gala next to Viper.
You knew you would be executing his downfall this year, but you'd never imagine scoring a girlfriend and a family in the process.
The few months you've spent with Natasha had been amazing in so many different ways.
For the first time, you are learning what it's like to be loved and cherished by someone who puts you first.
To feel the warmth of her body in the morning and the smell of her shampoo when you wrap yourself around her.
To learn how to communicate even when things get scary and your emotions run high.
To let yourself be vulnerable in a way that you've always been scared to do so.
"You're thinking really hard, princess," you can feel her breath tickle your ear, and you lean back further into her.
"It's been a crazy year."
She hums out her agreement, "It has been."
"You wanna know the best part?" you asked.
"Tell me."
You turn around in her hold, "Asking you out on that date."
You didn't miss the way her eyes brighten at your confession. You're not the only one that feels lucky.
Natasha still pinches herself wondering if this was all real.
Like when she sees you dancing in the kitchen with nothing but an oversized t-shirt and her basketball shorts.
Or finding you fitting perfectly with Yelena and the others while you bark orders at them while playing overcooked.
Or seeing how you look at her like she was someone worth loving. Like she doesn't wash blood off her hands.
Catching herself before she goes too far in her mind, her body shook with mirth before she responds, "I believe I brought you out on that date."
You laugh, the sound muffled over by the shouting you hear from the people downstairs, counting down as the clock ticks towards twelve.
Leaning against the railing of the balcony, you put your hands on her shoulder, "Yeah, but I was the one that asked for it."
She laughs, the sound filling your heart with something unspeakable. She steps closer, her face just an inch away from yours. You've memorized every inch of her face, from the green in her eyes to the faded scar on her chin.
Running your eyes across her face, you hear the countdown getting closer.
Her hands link behind your back, "That's the best part for me too," came her whispered confession.
One that was drowned out by the shouts from below but you heard her as clear as day.
Forget her business. Forget her empire. Forget her name.
You were the most important part of her year.
And to be able to call you hers?
Proudly, and loudly?
The fireworks light up the skies above you two, the sounds of cheers and shouting from not only downstairs but across the city...
You lean in and kiss her underneath the lights and the stars.
The explosives imitating the way your heart feels having her in your arms.
i saw the thing. the thing. mob boss!nat has BACK TATTOOS??? of what exactly, i dont know if you got this ask before but.. i am incherested
making myself known..
🐅
I AM SO GLAD YOU ASKED.
Okay the tattoo I pictured for mob!Nat is a full black and white back piece of a snake, with flowers sprinkled around!
imagine something like this! She got it when she was around 19-20 :3
Here's a little drabble for when R first found out about it:
You were about two weeks into the relationship, and it's been a pretty great two weeks. The countless dates that Natasha has planned out was always refreshing and unique, she consistently manages to surprise you with her ideas and attentiveness.
Today was a slow day where you wanted to rest at home. Yesterday's archery range date made your arms sore but it was fun; you drooled at the way Natasha managed to hit bullseye for almost triple the times you did.
Colette prepared a delicious pizza for dinner - made from scratch of course, paired with some garlic bread and mushroom soup that made you ascend to heaven. You and Natasha were currently in her room, prepared to just put some random show on TV and cuddle for the night.
She claimed that she wanted to take a shower first, having just been back from her office right before dinner. You grabbed the remote and started scrolling through the various titles on Netflix.
And that was when you saw it.
"What's that?" you asked, TV long forgotten while your eyes zoomed in on the patch of skin that peeked out from the towel that she rested on her shoulder.
She was wearing just a sports bra and her slacks, "Hmm?"
"On your back, is that a tattoo?" You scooted over to the end of the bed and she sighed softly, something you can't quite decipher showing in her eyes before she turned around to let you see her back.
"You have a full back tattoo? Have you been holding out on me?" you pouted at her, nudging at the towel so she grabs it off and you can see more of it.
A soft gasp sounded from your lips.
Her sports bra might have covered up quite a bit, especially the straps that mostly hid the middle part of her upper back, but from the sides of them you can see patches of skin that were scarred.
The skin that weren't covered with ink were light pink in colour, they were rough, and you can recognised burn scars when you see one.
Your hands were trembling slightly when you reached up, before your voice hesitantly asked, "May I?"
"Yeah," she nods.
You couldn't see her face, but you could tell that she was slightly tensed. Her shoulders were tight and her breathing was that much more controlled.
Your hand grazes the ones peeking out from the side, tracing over the ink and taking note of the roughness of the skin. Your head was filled with questions, but you knew better than to ask.
Shuddering, Natasha seemed to picked up on your silent question, "There was a fire, when I was younger," her voice was soft, "I was the only one who got away in time."
You hummed softly.
"I'm sorry it happened, it must've been a difficult time for you," you didn't know what else to say.
You would love to ask how old she was, how it happened, who she lost in the fire...
But you asked none of it.
It's not the time, yet.
Maybe one day, one day she'll open up to you about this.
And you'll hold her like how you wish you could've held her when this happened to her.
But for now, you'll settle with tracing your fingers over her tattoo, memorising every inch of her skin, before you grasp her face in your hand, and leave a kiss on her mouth to show that you wish you could've been there for her.
I have always wanted to bring up the fact that Natasha has a pretty big scar on her back - I imagine it to be about the size of her palm. This is something that came to me when I first started writing for this AU.
I never put any emphasis on this in the previous fic because I wanted it to be an accepted fact, didn't want it to be too cliche where the media was commenting or R was being fussy over this. It's just a part of Natasha.
So thank YOU for this ask, because it finally gave me a chance to write this the way I wanted to, which is R finding out about it hehehe c:
