Finally fall was starting to reach the campus, and as Togami walked the small wireless headphones that he wore played George Winston’s Autumn piano collection quietly in his ears. His shoes were comfortable, the sun was heating the backs of his shoulders seemingly in time to the gentle keystrokes of the piano, and the coffee he carried steamed clearly in the air, leaving a trail of luwak scented mist behind him as he went. He had even gone so far as to add a sprinkle of cinnamon to his normally plain black coffee this morning, the chill in the air prompting a strangely spontaneous action. Why being cold put him in a cheerful mood he suspected no one else would understand, possibly because he didn’t fully understand his affinity for this weather, either. All he knew was that it was infinitely better than the sticky humidity of summer, or the damp bone-chilling cold of late winter and early spring.
As he traversed the campus, lost in thought, he was completely unaware of everyone else--including the girl who had just stepped backwards into his path in order to catch something flying through the air. He stopped in his tracks, of course, but not until after the toppling girl slammed into his knees, ricocheted slightly, and landed with a dull thud as her tailbone met the pavement. Had she been looking where she was going, none of this would have happened.
“Watch it!” he snapped angrily, pulling away from the interruption with a mix of disgust and rage. So much for his relaxing morning...
