me: okay a concussion is very scary and i am having a hard time feeling like i'm in the clear for it. i struggle with hypochondria but i think i'm okay. it's fine. i just have some leftover flickering lights at the edge of my vision, but the doctor said that is normal and isn't a cause of concern on itself. i got a ct scan after the concussion and it was fine. it's fine.
me: i'll just ask the nurse that has to remove my stitches about it i guess?
the nurse: flickering lights could be a sign of something being terribly wrong in your brain. it could be swollen. your skull could be filled with blood. sometimes ct scans come out perfectly fine after a concussion and then the person kicks the bucket still. some people just randomly die after a week of a concussion. you should run immediately to the ER and get them to ct scan your brain again or you may die.
