I’m sorry guys for not arting for so long but now…….

i think my biggest problem with sharing opinions on tumblr is the way that people talk with your posts, and not to you. everyone has motivated reasoning in placing any content on their blog, especially content that they disagree with—usually seeking to signal some part of their identity and/or prove something to their own followers, not seeking connection with op

their reply is usually based on an assumption of the worst of op's motives, an assumption that the post is targeting someone (them) specifically even when it is speaking about ideologies in general, an assumption that they understand the context in which the post was made... there are layers upon layers

it is too easy to reblog and add the most nonsensical things, cruel things. at least sending anon hate requires the time to open up someone's blog and find the question link. i am not interested in people's half-baked gut-reactions to my posts. i am also not interested in having serious conversations with people who won't identify themselves.

so... two things are going to change. first, my Star Wars analyses are going to be posted on a /metas page that is not rebloggable. if someone wants my opinions on their blog, they'll have to make their own post and quote me so i don't have to see the low reading comprehension notifications. second, anon messaging is off. sorry, i really loved the anons i was getting in the past and i hope to be able to turn it back on some day, but... not now.

so! people are going to have to actively consent to see my content, actively seek it out, and not have the excuse that it was shoved in their face by being on their feed via reblog. any questions and comments are WELCOME to the inbox, but not on anon. it's not that i'm not open to having discussions in good faith, i am, but...

i just want there to be a little more friction, a little more distance, between myself, my opinions, and those who would use my words without context and who would put words in my mouth. it's about managing how i experience fandom, and this is the solution i've settled on for now ❤️
